Biiiig station should be enough ambient mass and air that up to a few days interruption should be ok . Plus redundant backups that are not ai controlled. Also there's the zombies to consider working to maintain life support for them which should bleed over tward's John. I mean at least two of them would not want snacks ended.

All true, that's actually what she meant about how normally they're stable on a moment-to-moment basis. Normally if she secured life-support without venting it to space and with only John and the zombies the air would probably remain viable for a few days.

In this case the main thing with the test she's talking about is that it basically is intended to confirm the maximum speed at which the life-support system can completely replace the atmosphere which shortens that down to a few minutes at most.
