Some vent art when I was going through a depressive episode; I slowly began to forget who I was because I kept questioning all of it. Going over, and over again back and forth to decide what was real and what wasn't in terms of my identity, because when you grown up without self-esteem and positive reinforcement for doing the things you love to do and to express how you want to express, you tend to have the case of a fragmented identity. On top of that; when it's at it's worst, thoughts become akin to static in my head and they overwhelm me because I'm trying to address them all, but at the same time address none.
It's not something that's easy to snap out of. It really isn't. But eventually you come to recognize your own power in the moment, and choose to react to those emotions. Whether that's through crying, venting, or whatever that's not violence towards you or others. Then, perhaps the adrenaline can provide you a sense of perspective.
Sometimes, a perspective is all you need in order to recognize yourself again.
