Finally finished the map of Uloa, an island continent that the majority of my MLP AU story takes place. *note that just because a place is called the 'home country' of a pony does not mean they currently live there, their actual locations are in their individual profiles on my toyhouse: https://toyhou.se/StormyChang/characters/folder:5636389
Alaric is on the west side of the continent and it's a strict autocratic monarchy passed down through male heirs. It is bordered by Lythia, the Searing Sands and Iphigenia to the east. This is the home country of RimeDraft (king), Moonrise (crown prince), BerryGateau (royal consort), Mudpie and Goldrush (plus 2 more ponies in the works). Alaric is known for being a tough country with more challenging environments and extreme weather systems. They are at peace with the other countries, for the most part, but find Lythia distasteful.
Lythia is on the north side of the continent and is monarchy passed down through male heirs, but currently ruled by a widowed queen. It is bordered to the south by the Searing Sands, Iphigenia, and Prophis, and to the west by Alaric. This is the home country of Cirrostratus, ChromaticBlitz, FireworkGleam, AmethystBlossom, Windchill, LioraSolaris (princess), and MirazMelody (crown prince). Lythia is known for being a country of social extremes, the rich are decadent while the poor just get by. While technically at peace with the other countries there is an underlying disdain for all of them except for Prophis.
Iphigenia is on the south side of the continent and is semi-direct democratic government, run by a council of diverse ponies. It is bordered to the north by Lythia, the Searing Sands and Prophis, to the south is the Maiden's Eye and the Wyrm Stepstones, and Alaric to the west. This is the home country of LaptevWhisper, BluebellChime, and ShootingStar (plus 2 more ponies in the works). Iphigenia is known for being a mild and temperate place to live with little conflict. They are peaceful with all the other countries, but wary of Lythia.
Prophis is a small country on the east side of the continent with an academic senate council. It is bordered to the north by Lythia and to the south by Iphigenia. This is the home country of Lovebird and RoyalFloret (Lythian queen) (plus one more pony in the works). Prophis is known for being both a great hub of knowledge but also secrets coveted by many, along with many ancient relics. They are a neutral country that is not easily swayed to one side.
The Searing Sands is in the center of the continent and is a lawless deadzone. It's bordered to the north by Lythia, to the west by Alaric and to the south by Iphigenia. This will be the home country of a currently unnamed pony. Known as a dry and harsh desert filled with criminals and unknown creatures.
The Maiden's Eye/Wyrm Stepstones are to the south of Iphigenia. The Stepstones are an island chain stretching from the mainland out to surround a large ever-churning whirlpool known as the Maiden's Eye. The whole area is rumored to be the home of dragons.
