Bernkernsel, the Bishop of Death, serves as the embodiment of Death’s right hand. At 2,654 years old, she was once human before her death transformed her into an executor angel. In her long existence, she forged an intimate understanding of the previous concept of Death—so much so that she eventually outlived it and assumed the mantle as the right hand of the current incarnation.

Now, she rarely reveals her true name, Mayzie, a poignant reminder of the family she lost long ago. Not only did she guide the current concept of Death in unlocking and mastering her own formidable powers, but Bernkernsel has also earned a reputation as the most effective executor angel. Her only failures have come when confronting targets of overwhelming strength or entities that are concepts themselves—a type of adversary she now strives to avoid.
