David was outside playing with his plastic toy dinosaurs while being in his pajamas, sitting on the front lawn. The family had recently finished attending a mass at Community Crossroads Church.
His mother was tending to her garden in the front of the house which had some White Snowdrops that were beginning to bloom.
“Rwaaar! Rwaaar! Dinos on the prowl!” exclaimed the tiger cub while giggling to himself.
“Hey there sweetie, are you having a fun time?” Marian asked.
Si, I’m having fun!” said David.
“Wonderful hun, I’ll be back in a moment. Mommy has to fetch some plant fertilizer.” said the mother.
“Oh... okay!” said the little tiger.
The little tiger watched as his mother headed inside the house, right before re-directing his attention to his toy dinosaurs.
David kept playing with his dinos, eventually moving them near the sidewalk since he wanted to simulate his dinosaurs doing a migration of sorts.
“Eccellente! Rwaar! Dino movement! Rwaar!” said the tiger cub as he giggled and laughed, he was certainly enjoying himself.
While that was happening, he accidentally threw his plastic t-rex into the air while trying to make it fly. It had slipped from his grip.
“Wait! Come back!” shouted David as he toddled after it.
Walking down the sidewalk was a teenage hyena with tan fur and spikey green hair with slight yellow. He wore a black shirt with a cracked skull symbol on the front, and blue jeans. Upon being hit in the face with the plastic toy, they got rather angry.
“Ow... who threw a toy dinosaur at me?!” asked the hyena angrily in a raspy voice as he watched the little tiger cub toddle over to him.
“My dinosaur!” exclaimed the little one as he reached out for it.
“You little pipsqueak! No one messes with me!” said the hyena angrily.
“Mi dispiace....” said David as he shook with fear.
The hyena was about to chase the little one off when his anger subsided for a moment. A thought came to his mind, he was trying to remember something important. David was confused.
“Cosa?” asked the tiger cub.
“Wait... hold on a moment...” said the teenager as he examined the little cub from all sides. “Orange, dark-grey stripes, Italian accent, likes dinosaurs... I know you! You’re the kiddo that Andrew babysat once.” He realized who this was and calmed down.
“Who are you?” asked David.
“Jack Jeffers, that’s all you need to know.” the hyena replied. “I’m one of Andrew’s friends.”
David was unsure how to properly to pronounce his name, so he ended saying, “J- ack?”
“Yeah, sure....” said Jack.
Just as they were about to speak further, another male voice called out in the distance. The little tiger cub curiously turned to the source, it was a zebra in a light-red shirt and red pants.
“Hey Jack, who ya speaking to?” He asked.
“This is David, that one kid Andrew took on for babysitting.” said Jack as Alex reached them. David toddled around them, observing them closely.
“Salve!” exclaimed David.
“What language is that...? That must be Italian. He told us about David’s father.” said the zebra as he crouched down and gently ruffled the tiger’s hair. “I’m Alex Pryce, nice to meet you, kiddo.”
As the little tiger cub giggled for a moment, he looked up at the dinosaur toy in Jack’s right palm. He said to him, “Can I have my dinosaur back, per favore?” eagerly awaiting to get it back.
“Sure, here ya go kiddo. I don’t need it.” said Jack.
“Grazie, Wall-dough!” said the tiger cub as he purred in response.
Marian came outside holding a bag of fertilizer, she had heard noises from outside her window and was curious about who was speaking to her little boy. She put down the bag and walked over to them.
“Oh... is that...?” asked Jack.
“Madre!” said David while looking at his dinosaur toy.
“Yeah... that’s his mother.” said Alex.
“Greetings gentlemen, I heard a conversation from my window. Is there something I can do for you?” asked the mother.
“Oh! Uh... hello Miss Lavinzo! Andrew told us about you,” said Jack.
“Ah, is that so? You two must be good friends of his.” said Marian as she looked over at her little boy. “David, were these two bothering you at all?”
“Nuh uh, Jack gave me dino back.” said the little tiger cub.
“That’s very nice of him.” said the mother as she looked at the hyena, looking him over for a moment. “I heard a little bit of a commotion, did something happen?”
“This kiddo accidentally threw his toy dinosaur towards me, but it’s nothing to worry about.” said the hyena.
“He’s a nice kiddo, ma’am.” said Alex.
Marian’s lips curved into a smile as she placed her hands at her hip. She thought these boys weren’t too bad.
“So... tell me about your husband. Does he carry a baguette or croissant around?” asked Jack.
The mother chuckled a bit at Jack’s question, even if it was rather unusual. She didn’t mind this since others had asked her similar ones.
“No, he doesn’t carry that around, but he does enjoy listening to the music from an Italian radio station that he tunes into. He has a golf club, but hasn’t used it for much golfing. His father gave it to him.” said the mother.
“Alrighty then. We’d like to stick around, but Andrew is having us over at his place.” the hyena said.
“Yeah, we shouldn’t be late.” said the Alex.
“Understood, I’ll see you around.” said Marian.
Alex and Jack waved goodbye and headed down the sidewalk to Andrew’s home. Marian crouched down and asked David, “Want some Banana Milk, honey?”
“Si Madre, per favore!” exclaimed David.
“Okay, but make sure to clean up your dino toys. Don’t want to leave them outside all alone.” said the mother as she giggled.
The little tiger cub nodded as he picked up his toy dinos and followed his mother inside for a refreshing drink that Marian had bought for him when they went out shopping.
