just going to bring this up here but you do realize that there are multiple versions of the Story Beauty and the beast. in fact, the one the movie was based upon actually was multiple versions all stitched together from the whole narrative the largest portions being used from the Russian version. also, the one for the Japanese version of the story in fact does end with the beauty taking the beasts curse in order to save his life. so this may actually be more accurate than intended depiction.
