A two year old character I never really did anything with but really liked. Her name is Mallory, the unlucky adventurer.

Really did this just to see what advances I made, if any.

Left drawing was done about a year ago.

I've RP'd her a few times with a sort of bodyguard/friend. But I've yet to have a real story for her yet.

It takes willingness to learn what you're doing wrong to fix it.

I think I remember you saying that you didn't really care to get 'better'. But if you want tips to aim for that, I could certainly help! (mainly because I think you have a lot of potential just aching to burst free)

Ah, not really. This was the first image of her. The one shown in this was done a year after the first. She's suppose to be more 'adult'. Well, young adult.

What a difference a year makes. I love the updated design. Is there anything you can say about what made you the look even even better? Such as what technique you might have done over the year that made her so crisp.

Really just basic things. Like better anatomy, studying/practicing clothing (as little as I do it on my IB account), better attention to detail, slowing down and actually looking at what I'm drawing.

The real detail of improving is sorta lost within the year span as I was just drawing to pass time, so it's hard to say.

Was the original done in paintchat or oekaki? It has that telltale line quality of a 2px pen tool xD

Looks like some good improvement in your detailing work though!

Keen eye! Lol both the originals were done in open canvas. At the time I didn't know how to use Sai very well.

Vary cute character! And I actually like both pictures. The first one because she's all cute a compact. And the second because she has more realistic proportions.

But if you're posting your art online, leave some room for open critiques. (good critiques, not insults). Use lots of references, both real and drawn (especially real refs). And in the end, just believe you are getting better and you'll get there eventually.
