So he really is as evil as his name implies, despite the silliness of being so overly stereotypically evil named, and despite being diabetes-inducingly adorable? Okay then. Scorn's abilities mostly revolve around draining another's spirit to even try to fight him. So even if someone can defeat him, the real challenge is to muster the energy to do it. But then, oppression is a popular theme here - Lovecraft made despair into an art form that defies traditional suspense based horror. Futility can be pretty compelling..
