Red and Kran are two disparate heroes who unknowingly fulfill the same purpose: relaying critical info on a cult of the undead to the party. Red had previously served as a familiar to a wizard that was part of the cult, and Kran has integreated himself in amongst their numbers as a mole (at the cost of becoming a skelebird).
In-game, the two haven't met and likely don't even know each other exists.
