By no means meant as offence, but 28 hours? How did this take 28 hours? Just very interested about how something - at least seemingly simple looking - took 28 hours to make. I can't tell of course how long something like this would take me, since I got a very different style (as a game artist I draw more sketchy/rough)

Well it isn't simple at all - let me explain the work process on this.
Creating the initial lineart took me four hours (it was on a 600x700 canvas), afterwards I decided to redraw the entire thing along with some improvements after scaling up the original lineart as my reference material. Simply re-using the upscaled lineart was out of question due to a loss of quality. The work on the final lineart took me six hours which in total resulted in 10 hours work.
Adding the regular shading took me around 11 hours, it was a very time consuming and careful procedure. The remaining 7 hours were spent on adding remaining shades and effects. In total I spent 28 hours on making this.
I just can't shake the feeling that you're trying to downplay my effort here.

I definitely don't try to downplay your efforts, but I find it hard to imagine this took so many hours. The fact you're able to work so long on a single picture is admirable though. I just come from a game art perspective where we go for as much result in as little time as possible, and like I said: I can't really tell how long I'd take to make something of the same style/quality/etc. For the sake of personal curiosity I might try something like this when I got time.

I lose any sense of time whenver I work because I get so absorbed by what I'm doing. This doesn't mean I'm wasting any minute because of that, no, I'm more of a perfectionist. That's why I spend so much time on little things while probably someone, who's doing this kind of thing as a job, has a certain time schedule to keep. I redraw lines up to 20 times if it's necessary until they're really smooth - I don't use any vectors at all. What you're seeing is penwork only.

I guess that explains it. :) In the Game industry we can't permit wasting time on perfecting. Whereas you only use penwork, I'd definitely use tools to speed up my process. I can imagine your work-style has something meditive about it. ^^

If only dreams could come true then id shower her with all the tenderness she deserves. theirs a crazy amount of detail in this that its insanely cool looking but its her eyes that have my attention. hmm awesomeness. ^^_

Heh, you're not the first one to think like that. Too bad I have nothing like that planned, my skills with Flash aren't too good anyway, not to forget the amount of work it'd take to draw countless reactions and scenarios for her.
I'm glad you like the image, though!
