Once a kit has aged enough to walk on its own, typically twenty days after birth, it is introduced to the local pack. At this moment the kit becomes fully enmeshed in the telepathic network of the Zarkan species by imprinting on community members.
After this, the care of the kit passes from the direct progenitors to the community at large, with all members equally responsible for the kit's well-being, nurturing, education, and emotional support, and is considered a full member of the community. Even passing strangers will readily perform these duties if available.
