Sharako knew the night was drawing near, soon it would be the longest night of the year. His father's tribe had once made pilgrimages to this sacred place on the winter solstice. Not many alive knew of this sacred place, fewer still knew the exact moment each year when the altar would be blessed with a divine feast for those who made the pilgrimage. The Great Moon Goddess had many names, but to his father's people she was the Great Moon Goddess Luna. Sharako was a Lunarwolf, even if only by his father's lineage. The Moon Goddess cared not for such trivial mortal matters. All who looked to her in the darkness to find refuge in her divine light.
Sharako set out at dusk. He had left all of his worldly possessions at his camp, including his clothes, as he remembered his father's words clearly. He went into the great northern forest becoming one with nature. The snow was cold on his paws as he hadn't inherited the special paw fur that was ideal for the snow. His winter coat has at least grown in. As he went deeper into the woods alone, his fur started to glow with the radiance of the moon herself. He stepped into the clearing, just as the divine light of the goddess touched the altar, revealing food for all those who had made it.
Looking around the clearing, Sharako found he was the only one who had made it to the sacred grove in the harsh climax of winter. A soft voice came from the direction of the altar. "It has been a long time since I have seen a child of the Lunarwolves. Do not fear, for I see my blessing flows through your blood. You have been blessed with my radiant light. Your pure white fur glows with my magical gifts. Please take of this feast that I have provided. It is given freely to all who have come to this sacred place at the stroke of midnight on the winter solstice. May it nourish you through the harsh winters and bring you the light of hope, when darkness seeks to snuff out the light."
Sharako walked up to the altar. it had been covered with Apples, Cakes, Ripened Fruit, Dandelion all on plates of silver, and decorated with moonstone. His mouth started to water as he smelled all of the food. He had been fasting since the new moon, in preparation for this divine feast. Sharako's eye caught the shimmer of a moonstone necklace. he picked it up seeing the symbol of the Luna carved into the moonstone that hung on the silver chain. He had seen his father wear one when he was younger. He put on the blessed necklace that was a gift from Luna herself. Sharako had his fill of the feast. there was more than anyone could possibly eat. "Mother Luna, Divine Goddess of the Moon. As one of the last Lunarwolves, I give thanks for this meal, and the blessings you have bestowed upon me and my kin. I will pass my knowledge on so that others may make this pilgrimage and bask in your divine alabaster light." Sharako put his hands together in prayer and bowed to the altar before he left. It was a long trek back to his tent. If he was lucky, he would make it by dawn, to be greeted by the Radiant Divinity of his mother's tribe, The Great Sun God Sol.
