What goes around comes around. Tess may have tricked Rennefer earlier this year, but Tess thought she could have opened one of her Christmas presents early. Rennefer's presents have checks for Naughty Kids that try to open things early, now she's all wrapped up like a present and needing some help to get out of her ribbonly trappings.

Rennefer COULD get her out, but she seems to remember back to earlier this year, when Tess trapped her in the form of a chocolatey reindeer. So she might rub him the embarrassment for Tess just a little bit because of that prank. Maybe until Easter.
