Stormwave felt she had experienced this moment before.

The calm before her namesake. The tingle in the back of her neck. The slight drop of fear in her gullet. She had a distinct feeling there was an inevitability of failure this time around, but couldn't explain why.

The rumors were growing concerning. A specter in the streets promised triumph and resources in exchange for unknowable favors beyond their understanding. A puppet master with a sinister intent far past the smaller scale goals of her contemporary villains.

But when Darkwitt wins, the spirit of the city seems to change.

Another Villain had found his way into the streets. Seemingly heroes and heroines would lose their powers, no longer able to uphold justice. And all of a sudden, goons would be palling around with diluted versions of their heroic abilities.

Was Darkwitt involved? Was he experimenting with a new age of Meta Weapons? Or was this Villain just another distraction for a greater play?

A Gambit free of signs of his influence, yet felt too much like it would play into his hands. Perhaps all he did to spurn on the geneticist Harvel was to merely nudge him in the right direction.

This time was different, this time she roped her friend to assist: Igneous. A real firebrand. One that was quick to make her own blood boil. But she needed his help. He might have been next on Harvel's target list. If the geneticist was defeated prematurely, There was a chance Darkwitt would make an appearance.

She needed to encounter him. She needed to see him.

She dreaded her desperation. She wasn't sure if it was out of a supercharged sense of justice... or because his strings were already firmly embedded in her.

It grew easy to think everything was curated to his paradigm.

Stormwave felt she had experienced this moment before.

An absolutely astounding gift Stormwave gave me of our characters in a comic setting. Darkwitt might not see himself a supervillain, but in many settings he has all of the hallmarks of one. To some he's the system, others, the head of a criminal empire.

And to Zyla, He's gradually becoming the architect to her existence. It's just a matter of time.

Harvel and Zyla Belong to Stormwave
