🐾 Yes, I found a cover by the aforementioned furry musician of this song and I was wholly unaware of it. I believe I asked him about it and he said it was a traditional Mexican holiday song and I was surprised I never heard of it. I asked my mother and grandmother who were both born and raised in Mexico if they were aware of it and they immediately started singing along! I was astonished, and a little bit saddened that even in high school when I was taking Spanish classes (that I technically didn't need but didn't know I needed to tell someone that I was Mexican and didn't need Spanish classes) they didn't teach us about it either. It was then that I decided to do my own cover of the song in hopes of persisting the tradition while also modernizing the song a bit without straying too far the the original traditional style.
🐾 There are stacks of vocals going on all sung by me. There is a version of this on my channel, I think, that is an earlier iteration of this (which is why this is subtitled "Album Version"). After re-recording the vocals, I felt a surge of... "Mexican" course through me. I don't know how to explain it, but I wanted to add another layer of vocals to this song and that is the extra bombastic melodic line that is introduced at the end! VIVA MEXICO!
