Settlements are often built with the snow/ice in mind - reinforced walls to hold up weight of the snow/ice to let it melt over time, extra ways to get out from cave-in tunnels/home, and other tricks to live through winter. The region is often known for the rare beast meat - able to withstand heat for longer points of time than normal before spoiling.
Edicts: Leave the snow as it is when you can, never know if it could cause a snowfall down the mountain. Ensure the tunnels are clear for the betterment of your kin. Keep unneeded heat away when you can.
