Vexx felt tender, inside and out. Even opening his eyes was an ordeal, especially since it meant the light could sting through his eyelids and go straight to his migraine. The green furred rodent clung tighter to his clammy sheets. No music, no stimulation, just the sound of his ringing ears and his throbbing headache. He quietly prayed for an end to the whole thing - or, at least, a chance to get back to sleep.
Ding-Dong.
``Oh, now what...?''
The doorbell was too far away to irritate his hearing, at least. He presumed whoever was at the door was planning to try and sell him something. No chance of that happening. He was going to stay put right where he was.
Ding-Dong.
``Persistent, aren't we...?'' Vexx sighed, grabbing his pillow and jamming it over his head.
By the fifth ding-dong, it became clear that whoever it was wasn't planning on leaving.
From his bedroom window, Vexx could see that it was drizzling rain outside. This persistent salesperson was probably getting soaked. The least courtesy he could do was go down, and tell them to move along.
He couldn't keep the groans from oozing out of his throat. Every step felt like a herculean effort. He wrapped his dressing gown around himself and slowly trudged his way out of the bedroom, down the creaking stairs, and towards the door.
One more Ding-Dong hit him like a rock to the back of the head. He winced and sighed, bracing himself for a conversation with an annoyingly insistent salesperson.
Instead, when he opened the door, he was met with...
Pretty colours.
Orange and yellow ripples, pouring from a familiar pair of eyes.
It should have made his vision hurt - it was far brighter than the dim lights in his bedroom. But it didn't. He had the opposite sensation, a familiar sense of treacle-thick calm, like the contented tiredness that descended upon him just before he fell into a deep sleep.
He suddenly felt like he was very far away... far away from his body, not to mention all the aches and pains. His vision swum and melted into those same colours. The grey overcast sky, the pattering rain on the cracked street... all of it was gone, pushed away by a halo of hypnotic light. It framed the face of the grinning wolfdog with the pretty eyes and the widening smile.
Oh... it was Kodi...
``Heya bud,'' Kodi said, grinning widely. ``You doing okay?''
``Uhn...hnn...?'' Vexx smiled back in dizzy mimickry.
``You definitely don't look so hot...'' Kodi's face creased into a sympathetic frown, which Vexx sleepily mimicked as well. ``You weren't kidding about being sick, huh? Let me in.''
Kodi inclined his head to the side, guiding Vexx to stumble out of the way. Kodi slipped in, closing the door behind him before throwing off the raincoat.
``Hooh, toastier in here,'' he remarked, as his canine tail began to extend in length and curl around Vexx's thighs. His tail had been stuffed inside his coat, keeping it dry and toasty. Vexx's buck-toothed grin returned as the pure pleasure of mindlessness draped over his addled mind.
``I saw your posts,'' Kodi continued, moving in closer. His nose almost touched Vexx's - his breath smelled savory and pleasant. ``I felt really bad for you, being sick sucks. You've probably been super lonely, haven't you? Not anymore, not if I can help it. Just look into my eyes, feel my presence... the presence of another, close to you...''
``Uh-huh...'' Vexx croaked and gurgled, his eyes boggling out of his head a little as they pulsed with those same colours. ``Another...''
Kodi nuzzled Vexx. His cold wet nose made the Chuki squeak and shiver.
``Oop, sorry.'' Kodi's tail continued its journey up, pressing Vexx's warm dressing gown tighter against his body. The clamminess he'd been feeling was all melting away. The aches and pains lessened too. Kodi's tail was like a big warm water bottle, constantly radiating a very pleasant heat.
``Where've you been? Upstairs in your bed?'' Kodi's voice was casual; he wasn't putting on any sort of flirtatious affectation. Not that Vexx cared. Paired with the slow, even pulse of those hypnotic eyes, the wolfdog's voice was pure pleasure.
``Uh-huh...'' Vexx exhaled.
``Oh, I bet it's really clammy up there right now. Don't worry. I'll make your bed for ya. For now, let's head to the living room and stick on the TV. I think some cuddles will fix ya...''
Vexx was too bound in Kodi's tail to lead the way. He would have pointed it out, but the eyes were too pretty for him to say anything. Instead, the tail squeezed tight, gripped, and hoisted, and the Chuki's paws and tail lifted off the carpeted floor. Kodi marched Vexx from the landing to the living room(careful not to bump his head on the ceiling of course) and immediately flopped down onto the old velour couch. His tail unwound, careful not to spin Vexx too hard and give him nausea, then deposited him directly on top of the wolfdog.
``Mmm, there we go~!'' Kodi said happily. He didn't wait any longer to take the next thing he wanted.
Vexx felt Kodi's lips press to his, and his body worked on autopilot. They kissed, and time began to melt away. The kisses were gentle, chaste, like two shy young lovers. Kodi wasn't too forceful, knowing better than to get the Chuki's heart racing too fast. Instead, the wolfdog kept up the slow, gentle pulse of his hypnotic eyes. Each time their lips tensed and pressed together, he flickered his eyes a little more brightly, sending a rewarding shiver of pleasure down Vexx's spine.
``Mmnh,'' Vexx murmured, his pleasure muffled by the sound. ``Hmmmnh...''
``That's right,'' Kodi said between kisses. ``Each kiss makes you sink into me a little more. Melt into me. All those aches and pains, all those symptoms... all gone. No need to worry about them. Hypno's the best medicine, right?''
``Mmhmm...'' Vexx mightn't have agreed, he might have even protested. But he didn't feel like it. He felt more like staring into Kodi's eyes. It felt nice to stare. The eyes were warm. Kodi's body was warm beneath him. Kodi's tail was soft and cuddly. As if anticipating every possible bit of discomfort, Kodi's tail wrapped around Vexx's feet to keep them warm, before snaking back up to curl around his neck like a scarf.
``There we go,'' Kodi said. ``Each kiss takes away another bit of pain and discomfort, somewhere in that body...''
Vexx felt sweet relief, and that sweetness grew with each and every kiss.
Kodi's suggestions became more and more infrequent. His lips against Vexx's did all the talking. Time dilated and stretched onwards. Vexx kept finding new places of tension to relax, new ways to let his stocky body squish his wolfdog friend's deeper into his couch.
``Just relax...'' Kodi said. ``Don't worry about smothering me, I can breathe no problem...''
A thought came to Vexx's mind, just for an instant - `Contagious?'
The word was gone with Kodi's next kiss, and it was chased further away with the kiss after that, and the next one, and the next one...
``Mmmh.'' Kodi pulled away, cradling Vexx's chubby cheeks with his paws. He gave them a little pinch and squish, and his eyes pulsed brighter still. ``So, Vexx... on a scale of one to ten, one being the best... how much better do you feel?''
Vexx tried to scan his body, but the eyes were so distracting, and his body felt so heavy, and he felt so sleepy...
Kodi took advantage and dove in for a kiss. And another. And another... Four, Five, Six, Seven, Eight, Nine...
The last kiss was the deepest one yet, mixed with a long rumbling `Mmmm' from Kodi's throat.
``Mmmmwah!'' he pulled back and licked his lips, and Vexx just collapsed against him. He was at a ten, for sure.
He felt amazing. He'd never felt so deliriously, decadently sleepy in his life... at least, he couldn't remember a time where he was. The hypnotic colors saw to that.
``There we go. Knew it~'' Kodi giggled. ``Just let my warmth pull you down, down, until you're deeply asleep, totally at rest... let's see what I can find on TV, something that'll really calm ya down...''
Vexx couldn't even process the sound in any detail. It was just noise. Pleasant, sleep-inducing noise. His eyes drifted closed, but the spirals remained behind his eyelids, coaxing him into a lovely, deep sleep.

Vexx was waiting outside Kodi's house. He'd rung the doorbell twice now, but he could hear some shuffling getting closer. He'd brought a little gift basket, as a way of saying thanks for the other day. The hypno-cuddles had put him well and truly on the mend; certainly well enough to leave the house.
When the wolfdog opened the door, he looked like death. Sunken eyes, matted fur, the works.
``Hey,'' he said, his voice a low throaty croak.
``Hey Kodi...'' Vexx winced with sympathy. ``I was worried this might have happened. Well... I guess you can put the tea and honey to use, at least?''
He proffered the basket, with an apologetic smile on his face.
``Thanks,'' Kodi said, smiling weakly and wincing from the pain of doing so. ``How're you doing?''
``Much better, thanks to you!'' Vexx said. ``Can I come in and make you some tea? It's the least I can do.''
``Sure... though I don't think I'm gonna be able to hypno you.''
Vexx laughed as he stepped through the door. That was the furthest thing from his mind.
