A pair of otters were walking around inside a laboratory, one, Joey, was dressed in shirt and shorts and the other, Katie, was wearing a labcoat.
"So what did you want to show me?" Joey asked curiously
"Well, remember how our last adventure left your outfit all torn to shreds?" Katie asked as she led him around
"How could I forget?" Joey replied as he slumped forward with a slight groan at that memory
"Well I have been working on a new one for you!" Katie replied excitedly
"Oh? Would I be correct in assuming it wasn't simply made with a sewing machine?" Joey asked probing for more details
"You would be correct indeed. It took a lot of work, I mean a lot. You'll see why soon enough, come along, we got lots to do!" Katie replied picking up her pace
"What do you mean?" Joey asked walking faster to keep up
"Well once we get you dressed up in your new adventuring outfit, you gotta learn all of its new features and then we go on your first adventure with it!" Katie replied cheerfully
"So soon?" Joey asked
"Why not? No time like the present" Katie answered as she approached a wardrobe
Joey walked up to it and looked at it as she opened its doors and began sliding outfits around. Looking at them he could see some greasy overalls, a hazmat suit, a flight suit, a haptic suit, and a few others he couldn't see very well before she pulled one out and slammed the doors shut.
"Here it is!" She exclaimed holding up the outfit
Joey looked at it and leaned in. He could see it looked a bit like his old one but with some differences. The top was a black hoodie that now had a gatomon face print on the chest. The skirt had a red belt and had striped patterns of black and purple. Looking at the hoodie, the hood had gatomon ears and yellow eye lenses. The outfit also had a pair of shoes that looked like cat paws. It had a wristband for one arm and still used his wrist device for the other arm.
"Now get dressed and we can begin!" Katie exclaimed tossing the outfit to Joey
Joey caught the outfit in his hands and looked around. "Is there a changing room or something?" Joey asked curiously
"You don't need one of those, not like I haven't seen you naked in just your diaper butt before" Katie teased playfully
Joey blushed cutely and nodded his head in agreement, unable to counter that point. Joey stripped down to just his diaper and slid the skirt on tightening up the belt and slid the hoodie on, leaving the hood down. He then put on the shoes and then the wristband and wrist device finishing up. He looked himself over in a mirror, seeing the hoodie exposed his belly some and its short sleeves left much of his arms exposed. The skirt wasn't quite long enough to fully hide his diaper and the shoes only came up to his ankles.
"Okay, so for starters, I made a new type of thread for this outfit. It's FAR more durable than the last outfit was. This one can resist bladed attacks, so it's not as easy to cut, it's practically tear resistant, and can protect from almost all projectiles. I need more data to give it an antimagic coating to help ward off malicious magic used against you so magic protection isn't ready yet. Now, the real fun begins when you pull the hood up over your head" She explained pointing out its defensive properties
Joey took the hint and reached around behind his head and pulled the hood up over his head and slid it in place. In an instant, the outfit reacted to this and began to change. The hoodie stretched on downtowards the skirt, fully covering up his top half. The hood itself snapped around his head, fitting snugly, covering his eyes with the yellow lenses and covering his ears in the gatomon ears. The sleeves stretched down along his arms towards the device and wristband fully covering up his arms now. The wristband and device had material that came out and snaked around his hands, covering his palms and the back of his hands. The skirt itself began to stretch and wrap around his legs and diaper, stretching down towards the shoes which were also changing. The shoes sprouted sharp claws and material climbed up his legs meeting up with the skirt's new leggings fully covering his legs and feet. Through the lenses, Joey could see a display pop up showing off his vitals and the status of the outfit.
"WHOA!" Joey exclaimed in surprise looking himself over in the mirror
"Awesome, it worked!" Katie cheered in excitement "You don't know how hard it was to get it to do that. I had to tweak and tweak and tweak and tweak this design countless times, completely scrapping the whole outfit a couple times to start over. Like I was starting to think it wasn't possible but then I did it!" She cheered triumphantly
"This feels a little strange" Joey commented shaking his arms and legs
"I'm not surprised, it is different from what you are used to" She commented seeing him trying to get used to it
"So what's the advantage of this? It feels a little restrictive like this" Joey commented as he started to walk around
"This outfit has two forms, the form you had before was its mobile form. Made for movement but not so much defense. This form, however, is all about defense. In exchange for limiting mobility, you can tank some hits and stay better protected against any enemies you can't outmaneuver or when you are in places like tight corridors or small rooms" Katie explained going over the outfit
"Okay, so the lenses are like a HUD then?" Joey asked curiously, blinking his eyes a few times trying to get used to the view
"Correct again, though they do a bit more than that. I know some magic users can use illusion magic or other crazy things, so I tried to help counter such trickery. The lenses can help you see through visual illusions, the ears can help filter any auditory trickery while still feeding sound into your ears so you can hear everything going on. I'm working on a smart program to lower incoming volume so you can be safe from sudden loud noises, but its not ready yet"
"All right, that all sounds cool and all so the shoes?" Joey asked looking at the new claws
"Well I figured if someone invaded your personal space you could give them a punishing kick. Leave them regretting their decision to try and get up close and personal, a way to make sure they back off and keep their distance" Katie explained, "The metal should be good for some time but I will monitor them to make sure they don't get worn out"
"You put a lot of thought into this" Joey replied feeling really impressed
"I really did, gotta keep my boyfriend safe after all" Katie repleid poking him on his nose
"Shouldn't it be me keeping you safe?" Joey asked crossing his arms
"It can go both ways, you did get rid of some of those machines in that factory" Katie answered giving him a kiss on the lips
Joey wagged his tail a bit before clearing his throat, "So anything else I should know?"
"Not really, that should cover what your outfit can do. Can only do so much without turning it into power armor and I doubt you are the type to really use such a thing" Katie answered "I could always make a zero suit for you though, I think you'd look really sexy in such a tight little outfit" she teased sticking out her tongue
Joey just blushed saying nothing as he tried to hide his face with his hands.
"Well ready to go on our mission to give this thing a test drive?" Katie asked
Joey nodded his head as he pulled the hood back. In an instant, the outfit retracted back into its smaller form, freeing up Joey's limbs, allowing him to move more freely.
this is a piece i put off for far too long to write something for. Here we have Joey getting a new outfit to wear when he goes on his adventures with his girlfriend katie.
