To be honest, I just didn't come up with any dialogue for her that naturally fit into the scene. The screwball was a relatively late addition that kept her from being extraneous.
According to her creator, Mimzy is to us a living plush anthro rabbit who's anatomically accurate, but is actually a nanomachine-imbued plush robot from the future, inspired by the Mimzy from the movie The Last Mimzy. Because she's a plush, she doesn't actually talk physically. Instead, she effectively speaks telepathically.
