The idea is that the collar scans Sonic's shape and block him from going beyond the electromagnetic fields, this way Eggman could control his cage/path when easily moving around Sonic's area.
Again, few versions because I can't control myself when I see funny strips for color settings, but I promise I know what I am doing.
