Of artists, I don't know. Of people in general, no. Ilene here isn't my character. She belongs to dmfalk, who bills himself as a writer. (Also, I don't know if I'm doing her proper justice or how badly I might have mangled her characterization.)
Unless her lore has changed, from what I recall, Ilene was born some 48-50 million years ago on an island that is now the Messel Pits in France, in a time when Europe was an archipelago, ants came in rather large sizes, and volcanic lakes vulnerable to limnic eruptions. When she was ten, she was nearly caught in one such eruption, whereupon she was transported several million years into the future and halfway around the world to northern California. How or why this happened is unknown, as is who might have been responsible, if anyone. This is why, in #15, she says she dealt with weirder.
In the modern day, she was found by a family of raccoons, who adopted and raised her as their own (though they had no idea what she was until many years later). Due to the amount of time between hers and the modern day, she can't do the usual furry crossbreeding thing, and since she's the only lepti in the modern day of her world (who knows what happened to all the others), she can't reproduce even though she's otherwise perfectly capable of doing so.
The lores of my own lepti characters vary according to world. Of course, none of these have been shared publicly yet, so who knows if they'll ever be developed into anything worth talking about.
