Introducing Chester Forrest, a Fisher from Virginia. He live in his little corner of suburbia with his wife Angela and their three kids. By day he practices as a retail pharmacist and by night? Well, he's just an ordinary dad and husband. He loves his wife and kids and enjoys his job, even if it is a bit too "people-ly" out there. On his own he tends to be a reclusive homebody, but lucky for him he has Angela and the kids to prod him into social settings.
----- Time grinds ever forward and with it come change. The seasons change in turn, moving from the birth of spring to the ends of autumn. The young grow and become old and then make way for the new young in turn. With this post, Rorick's time also makes way for the new. He's been with me for quite some time, eighteen years in fact, in some form or another. Around twelve of that as the rough collie that everyone has come to know, though his ref is a bit younger still. And while his story hasn't still been fully told, I feel that it's time to move on from him.
That's right, as of today I'm officially retiring Rorick as my fursona. As the years have come and gone and I've developed Rorick and his story, I've come to the conclusion that he doesn't fully represent me any more. Don't get me wrong, I still like him and enjoy him, but the diverging elements have grown to a point I can no longer ignore them. Others might have 'sonas that have wildly different backgrounds and stories to them, and I don't fault or begrudge this, but I've always been a proponent that mine has to be at least relatively close to my actual self. Not a 1:1 carbon copy, mind you, but general details and flavorings, as one might call them, should be similar.
So what does this mean for Rorick? To be honest, probably not much, at least not on the short term. He's still one of my characters, and an active on at that. I still enjoy him and his story, and I still have parts of his story I want to tell. So for all of y'all who are here to see him, don't fret. He's not being fully retired, deleted, or given new ownership. As time goes on, he'll probably start to take a back seat in my overall comms as I wrap up his canon, but that's going to take some time. The big change: he's no longer my "representative" in "furry space". That title now belongs to Chester. And I hope y'all love him as much as you've loved Rorick over the years.
