Cal was so excited to get to school today. He was grinning from ear to ear as he watched the minute inch closer and closer to 3:00 pm. As soon as the bell rang, Cal bolted out of class and ran to the parking lot where his dad waited for him in the family car. Seeing his son bolting out of the school doors, Cal's dad waved a small box knowing this is the reason for Cal's excitement.
His dad had decided that because of Cal's good grades, he would reward him with a brand new game called Heldin Hills that had just been released. It was a fun rpg where the graphics were absolutely insane and the combat looked to be fun and complicated. The first time that Cal had seen the trailers, immediately he went to his dad and begged him to buy it. His dad obliged but only if Cal could keep straight A's throughout the school year. The game would be released right on the last day of school. The drive home was spent with Cal giggling in excitement in the backseat with his dad asking him questions about the game. When they got home, Cal ran straight up to his room and started opening up the packaging. Before he could put the game in, his dad stopped him and told him to at least come eat something before he dedicates his entire night to that game. Cal sighs, throws his game onto his bed and walks to the kitchen. As the game sits on the bed lonely, it starts pulsing with a dark red energy but it quickly dissipates when Cal comes back from dinner.
When Cal gets back he makes sure to say goodnight to his dad before he closes his door to make sure no outside noises would take away from his experience. Cal takes the game and inserts it into his console and awaits the title screen to pop up. The title screen music erupts but something seems off. Some of the screen seems glitched and the text seems off. Cal seems very disappointed but doesn't want to immediately complain to his dad. He reluctantly clicks the start button and the game freezes. Cal sighs and just stares at the screen, he was so excited to play and the fact it's a defective copy really soured his mood. Cal got up to turn off his TV when the screen turned black suddenly. Cal was a little freaked out from the sudden power outage before the screen turned back on to the main menu. Cal approaches the screen before a giant hand reaches through the screen and grabs his shirt. He doesn't have any time to yell for help before he's dragged through the screen into the world of the video game he was once excited to play. The screen flickers for a second to change the name from Heldin Hills to Horny Hills before changing back to normal.
