The insectoid Psyjis are a race of telepaths. While unable to outright read the inner of thoughts of someone as if they were listening to them speak out loud, they are able to understand the intention behind words and actions, such as whether or not someone is genuine in wishing another good luck. Most commonly they would live in tight-knit communities, connected by the psionic powers.
Mi’niri was a bit different, however, as she was the daughter of a Psyjiss nobleman and the human ambassador of their home world. As such she is considerably more solitary than her insectoid kin, living in the modest mansion of her mother instead. Quiet and studious, Mi’niri enjoys reading material from all over the galaxy, blissfully unaware she might be a target for those who wish to manipulate her influential parents.
And unfortunately for the young mantis woman, infamous mercenary Tessa had been hired by interstellar criminals to kidnap her for just that. Tightly bound, gagged and a special device suppressing her psionic abilities, she was about to be whisked away to who knows where…
