"The Umbral Sea"

It's a relatively normal day in the world of darkness that Nox lives in, with just the right amount of light given off by the perpetual eclipse above. Without a whole lot to do, he decided to go for a swim, eventually diving under to sit on the bottom for a while. Life in his world may be tough at times, but its natives can still find time to relax like this.

And with that, Sinktember 2024 is complete! Truth be told, this is the first I've done 100% right; with the others, I either skipped one or did them on the wrong days, including doing them in advance (Still during September though). Really proud of finally doing this properly, and I'm glad so many of the drawings have done so well!

It came close at one point, got one done only about half an hour before I posted it (Don't remember what one), but it went pretty well this year!

Squirtlerocks07 and I did an RP based on this.

S: the world of darkness, probably one of the most scary places to be in if you aren't from there, with only minimal lighting there it's home to some scary residents...but today it seems pretty normal around, that is until...we have an unexpected visitor... a Grovyle comes zooming into view, litteraly... it's got a cap on tailored to fit his head and a rather strange necklace they are wearing around their neck... this Grovyle almost seems like they run just as fast as Sonic the Hedgehog from some reason... as the Grovyle stops to look around, they get scared and lost as they don't know where they ended up at

L: The sounds the grovyle made from stopping attract the attention of a strange nearby creature, who looks out at them from a nearby hiding spot. Its glowing eyes would likely be all that's visible to the grovyle if they happened to notice it, and it looks them over, unsure what to make of the Pokemon but fully aware they're not from here.

S: as the Grovyle looks around the place in fear, they happen to spot the glowing eyes of this strange creature, which makes them yelp in fear and back away a little

L: The creature slowly comes out of hiding... "It's okay, calm down! I must not be the first you've met here... But I promise, I'm not going to hurt you." The creature is exclusively dark grey colors, with 4 legs ending in points, long horns on its head, and spikes along its back. It still keeps some distance between it and the grovyle, having no idea what they're capable of.

S: "G-get away from me!" the grovyle jumps into a little ball in fear as if they were sonic themselves, then zooms away some distance more before coming to a stop, clearly very afraid of this strange creature they just now saw

L: Surprised at the grovyle's speed, the creature follows them, again keeping its distance. "There's way worse to find here than me, I swear I just want to talk!"

S: the creature can hear the grovyle whimper, they are all alone in this scary place, a few tears well up in their eyes as well, they are currently sitting down on top of a hill, hoping the creature didn't follow them

L: The creature stays at the base of the hill, calling up to the grovyle. "I'm sorry I scared you, I'm not good at talking to people from the Bright World!"

S: when the grovyle heard the creature again and them saying bright world, they got confused and a little frightened... but hearing them say they are sorry, they gesture for the creature to slowly come up, still unsure if they can fully trust them

L: Relieved that it's starting to go better, the creature starts coming up the hill, taking it slow so the grovyle doesn't end up getting scared off again. "There you go, just try to relax... Like I said, I'm not gonna hurt you."

S: the grovyle shakes with fear a tad as he watches the creature come up the hill, but tries to remain relaxed as they claimed they aren't gonna hurt them, and eventually the creature gets to the top

L: It sits down a bit of distance from them, smiling at them. "It can't be easy for you here, having been forced into another world... This must be a lot different from what you're used to."

S: "I-i don't know how in the world I ended up in this dark world... one minute I was living peacefully on earth, next minute I'm here... that bright world you mentioned must have been earth...and i guess my super speed got me here or something i dont know, I'm still trying to work that out..." the grovyle looks up at the creature "Are you sure your friendly? I don't even know what you are!"

L: "Yep, friendlier to Bright World people than most others here are. You're actually the first I've met! Oh, and my name is Nox, I'm an umbrakin."

S: "An...umbrakin...I've never heard of that before...well, n-nice to meet you I guess Nox, my name is Zippy... I'm a Grovyle...a very special one if I must say"

L: "Are all grovyles as fast as you? Seems like a pretty cool ability to have, I'm kinda jealous!"

S: "Heh, no...definitely not all of them are... I don't even know how I got that ability...I've had it ever since I was little, but it didn't start actually happening to me until I evolved... and now I can run really fast, and even jump uniquely too" Zippy is slowly starting to feel better about talking to Nox, showing off his unique jumping to him as well

L: "Ah, so it's just unique to you then... Well, still, it's cool, and certainly good to have in a place like this. I haven't seen anyone that could match that kind of speed."

S: "Thanks, I don't typically show it off to many folks, so it was nice that you got to see it...what about you? Do you have any unique abilities?"

L: "It's nowhere near as cool as super speed, but I can do something pretty rare for an umbrakin. I can stretch out my tongue really far." He does so, and it reaches about 2/3 the length of his body.

S: "Whoa... that's actually kind of cool in a way! Very nice! Also, I don't think I've ever met someone who has legs like the ones you have, those points look sharp, heh..."

L: Nox pulls his tongue back in. "Yeah, those points are fairly sharp, so you probably shouldn't touch them directly."

S: "I'll make sure to take note of that... well, I don't think I'm gonna be leaving this dark world anytime soon...and since I still wanna get to know you, maybe you could show me around if your not busy?"

L: "Sure, I can help you get used to this place, don't really have anything to do. Hopefully we'll be able to find some Bright World food for you, I've heard the food here doesn't usually sit well with people from there."

S: "Hmm...I see, well alright then...lead the way and I'll follow you, I'll probably just walk with you...not really hungry at the moment thankfully"

L: "Alright, stick close, you really don't want to get separated here." Nox gets up and starts leading Zippy back down the hill.

S: "Will do..." Zippy gets up ad well and walks down the hill with Nox, even his walking is kinda of fast, but it's still slow enough that they can walk side by side
"So, what kind of things do you like to do for fun Nox?"

L: "I like studying the Bright World. Everyone here knows so little about it, and it's so different from here! The stuff that occasionally shows up from there is pretty much all we have to work off to figure out what it's like, but I think I might be the only umbrakin that cares."

S: "Heh, it's called Earth...but I guess you can still call it the bright world I guess..." the two of them eventually reach what appears to be a purple lake of some sort
"Whoa, what the heck is that?!"

L: "Ah, perfect, I like swimming as well! Don't worry, apparently this water is safe for people from... Earth, I guess, to swim in. If you enjoy swimming, anyway."

S: "Swimming? Uhhh...that's not really my kind of thing... I don't even think I've ever been around water before in all honesty, heh... that purple is...weird"

L: "Fair enough, it's not for everyone. Still, there might be something from Earth down there, people don't usually check these..."

S: "That's possible I guess... but I don't even know how to swim period! I mean I've read somewhere that swimming is a pretty important life skill to have, and I've been meaning to get lessons since it's important and all, but I've been slacking in that"

L: "Hm... Not sure it'll work, since we have different amounts of legs, but maybe I could teach you? It'll be pretty basic, but still better than nothing."

S: "Well...what the hey? I may as well give a try, I don't wanna accidently fall into water and not know how to swim and survive, so I'll do it"

L: "Alright, um... I'd flip onto my back to demonstrate, but my spikes would get in the way. Think our only real option is for you to actually watch me from underwater."

S: "Wait... like I stay up here and watch you underwater? It may be a bit hard for me to see what your doing...can't you just do it from the surface?"

L: "I meant that you might end up needing to dip your head under to see it well, even with me on the surface. But, may as well try with neither of us underwater first, that might be enough."

S: "Well... I don't know I'm gonna be able to go underwater at all yet... but we'll get to that later... I'll make sure to pay attention and all"

L: "Alright, let's give this a try." Nox gets into the water and starts swimming on the surface, staying fairly close to Zippy. "Watch my legs, and try to figure out how to copy that."

S: "Ok..." Zippy pays close attention to how Nox is swimming around, taking some mental notes in his head as he stands there to watch

L: After a little while, Nox climbs back out of the water. "That shouldn't be too hard to copy, right? It'll probably even work better for you than for me, your limbs don't get thin like mine."

S: "No I honestly thought it would be a lot harder, but alright I guess I'll try it... I better take my cap off, I don't want it to get wet... thankfully my necklace is waterproof" Zippy takes off his cap and puts it away, then he slowly climbs into the purple water, he's definitely a bit nervous at first, but manages to float...then tries to copy Nox's swim movements, managing it well

L: "There you go, you're swimming! Take a little while to get used to that, then we can start talking about how to dive."

S: "Cant believe it's this easy...
Zippy gulps when he heard Nox mention diving, but he shakes it off for now and keeps swimming around for now, managing to go faster after a bit...he then slows down and smiles at his accomplishment, floating in place
"How was that?"

L: "You did great, especially for your first time! Now, do you want to try diving, or do you want to just leave it at that for now?"

S: "D-diving??" Zippy looks down at the purple water below, pretty nervous
"I mean, I'm probably gonna get mad later if I didn't try to dive... so...i-i-ill try it and see if I can do it..."

L: "Alright, I'll head under with you so you hopefully won't panic. Not sure whether I need to tell you this, but don't try to breathe while underwater."

S: "...I forgot... I can't breathe underwater... oh gosh...breath holding...that's something I've never ever had to do...I'm really scared..."

L: "Maybe just try out holding your breath on the surface first? That way you at least won't really have to worry."

S: "I guess I could...but I don't know how to hold my breath...I'm terrible at this stuff..."

L: "You don't know how? You just breathe in and then don't breathe for a while, simple as that. You don't even have to breathe in first, but you should, otherwise you can't hold your breath as long."

S: "Hmm... does sound simple... could you, demonstrate for me? Just so I know what I'm doing...heh"

L: "Sure, it's something like this." Nox takes a deep breath and holds it, puffing up his cheeks some.

S: Zippy couldn't help but giggle at Nox's puffy cheeks
"You look so silly! But yeah I see what's up now"

L: Nox smiles at Zippy, then exhales. "Yep, simple as that. You also don't need to puff your cheeks like that, but I like doing it anyway."

S: "Looks fun in all honesty, alright...let's try this then..." Zippy then proceeds to take a deep breath of air and holds it in, his cheeks slightly puffing up too...he sweats a bit as he's a little nervous about not breathing in...after a couple seconds he let's the breath out and gasps in the air a bit
"Did I do that right?"

L: "Yep, that was exactly right! You know everything you need to know to safely go underwater now! Just have to get you the courage to do it..."

S: "Y-yeah... I don't know if I can get that courage...I heard praise and encouragement helps scared people like this...maybe I just need some of that"

L: "Well, I can tell you're doing a lot better in this world since we met, diving ought to not be much issue now! Plus, you never know, there might be a spot underwater somewhere we can get you back to Earth with!"

S: "Well, yeah I guess I am doing better here... once I've been here for a while it's not too bad after a bit, but I'm still being cautious... if there was a spot underwater that could get me back to earth...it should be nice, I still have friends and family over there, plus I DO wanna explore around down there as well, I really do"

L: "I want to check things out down there too, and I think it's gonna be more fun with the both of us diving together!"

S: "Yeah, i think so too... I heard diving is more fun with a friend by your side and all"

L: "I've heard that too, never really gotten the chance to test that out... Guess we're both gonna be finding out, huh?"

S: "Yeah I guess so...that's if I can actually dive down here...which I honestly hope I can do..."

L: "I know you can, you've been getting so much more confident so fast! As soon as you go under for the first time, I bet you're gonna calm right down!"

S: "I don't know about that... one of my friends was telling me how scary it is to be underwater, because you can't breathe down there and all, they are an expert swimmer, but they have never ever gotten to submerge... so I feel like I'm gonna be pretty spooked by this"

L: "Yeah, the whole "not being able to breathe" thing makes it less fun than it could be... But I'll be right here to help if something happens. And besides, your friend's gonna be impressed with you when they find out you swam underwater!"

S: "That's true I guess, I like making my friends jealous, especially since they are already jealous of my powers I have, heh..."

L: "They'll probably be jealous that you saw an entire other world, too! If they believe you, anyway, we'll have to get proof before we go to Earth."

S: "Yeah also true, like take a picture or something of me in this new world I don't know... heard of these things called cell phones but I've never saw one"

L: "I think I might know what those are... Don't know where we could find one, but if we happen across one I'll point it out."

S: "Alright then, thanks" the grovyle then goes back to looking at the purple water fearfully "But for now... I gotta see if I can dive underwater..."

L: Nox gets into the water again, swimming next to Zippy. "I know it looks different from what you're used to, but it's harmless for Earth people. It may as well be Earth water."

S: "If you say so, but why has it got to be purple? It couldn't be a better color then that? Ugh... I don't know how I'm gonna manage to dive underwater for the first time...I just don't..."

L: "Just take your time, we'll figure out a way to do this eventually... But I'm kinda low on ideas myself."

S: "Yeah me too... this is gonna be rough... maybe I shouldn't do it...but, ugh! I know I'm gonna get mad later if I don't do it... you think if we go under at the same time it might help me out a bit better?"

L: "That would probably help, yeah! That way I'll be down there with you right from the moment you go under, and that at least couldn't hurt."

S: "Alright...I guess we can try that then and see what happens..."

L: "Okay, let's see if this'll work. 3, 2, 1..." Nox takes a deep breath and dives, hoping Zippy will do the same.

S: Zippy also takes a deep breath and holds it before slowly diving underwater with Nox, however.. his eyes were stung by the water around them and he accidently inhaled through his nostrils and started to choke! But thankfully he surfaced and gasps for air, coughing out some of the purple water

L: Nox quickly surfaces as well, letting his breath out. "Are you okay? You ended up getting some in you, huh?"

S: Zippy keeps coughing for a bit then calms down
"Hah...hah im fine but, I don't know what happened! I did everything you said...but first of all my eyes stung like crazy when I went down there and second of all, I think I ended up getting some water in my nose..."

L: "You could definitely hold your nose shut, but... Your eyes were stinging? Apparently there's something from Earth called "goggles" that can help with that, but I've never seen any..."

S: "I probably should have held my nose shut yeah, and those goggles? I know what your talking about, but I don't think I have any of those on me... least I don't think... hold on lemme check something" Zippy goes through his pockets and surprisingly finds a pair of blue swim goggles, with a note attached to it "What the..."

L: "Oh hey, those are goggles! Perfect! Hang on, what's that attached to them?" Nox gets closer to look at the note.

S: "I, don't know...lemme see" Zippy takes the note and opens it up, then reads it out loud
""Dear Zippy, your probably wondering how these goggles got in here, well I figured if you were gonna try diving at some point you may need these... I don't know when exactly your gonna start, but it's good to have them just in case, hope you like the color of them, I picked it out myself... enjoy! Your good friend, Wartortle"... ah, wartortle is one of my closest friends, he must have send me these..."

L: "They must be the one you were talking about... That's really nice of them, those goggles are gonna really help out with this!"

S: "Actually wartortle loves to swim and dive, it's a different friend I was talking about then, heh...but yeah, hopefully these goggles will actually help me, but now I gotta figure out how to get them on, shouldn't be that hard right?"

L: "Ah, okay. Those go on your head, and the transparent parts go over your eyes. Hopefully they'll fit, but if your friend got them for you they should."

S: "Ok...let's see here" Zippy then puts the goggles on his head, thankfully a perfect fit for him as he lowers the transparent parts over his eyes, looking 10x cooler and cuter then before "Heh...um, how I do I look? Did I do it right?"

L: "Yeah, and they look great on you! Wartortle definitely knew what he was doing when he picked these out for you!"

S: "Of course he would, we've been super close for a long time, he's almost like my brother in a way... glad I at least look good in them, I was kinda worried I would look ridiculous..."

L: "I mean, I've never seen anyone wear goggles before, so I don't exactly have anything to go off of. Still, you look pretty much ready to go!"

S: "Well that's good...I'm a little jealous that you can see fine down there, but eh...what can I do...guess we can try this thing again then"

L: "Yeah, that's normal for umbrakin... Anyway, yeah, let's give this another go! 3, 2, 1..." Just like before, Nox holds his breath and dives, waiting for Zippy just below the surface.

S: putting the note wartortle wrote for Zippy away, he adjusts his goggles then takes a deep breath and holds it, pinching his nose shut and dives back underwater, his cheeks puffing up as he closes his eyes for a brief moment before opening them to look at Nox, this time he's able to fully keep his air in

L: Nox smiles at Zippy with equally puffed cheeks, before gesturing for the Pokemon to follow him as he starts swimming deeper.

S: Zippy starts to sweat a bit nervously again as he looks down at nox going deeper, he doesn't follow him as he's too scared, just continuing to float in place and hold his breath worryingly as he also looks around some

L: Quickly noticing Zippy isn't following, Nox swims back up to stay with them, realizing that having them go deeper might be a tall order this early into them learning to swim.

S: Zippy shakes his head at Nox, he clearly looks uncomfortable holding his breath like this, and closes his eyes fearfully as his face starts to turn red already, whimpering too

L: Nox nudges Zippy upward, deciding they've been through enough and trying to tell them to surface as he swims back up as well.

S: Zippy gets the picture and goes back up to the surface, gasping in a bit heavily for air
"Hah...hah, oh my gosh!! That was....scary..."

L: Nox calmly exhales when he surfaces. "You still did great for that being your first real dive!"

S: "Well... thank I guess... just below the surface is just enough for me...I don't think I'll be able to go deeper then that...plus, I don't like this burning feeling in my lungs, I really thought I was gonna inhale the water back there again..."

L: "Yeah, you've already had a lot of improvement, we should probably take a break for now. If anything interesting's down there, it's not like it'll be going anywhere."

S: "I guess... but part of me wants to try again and get better, I don't want a break... I wanna show wartortle that I can like this stuff too..."

L: "Well, we can keep trying if you want, and see about getting you more okay with going deeper each time. Might take a little while, but I'm sure you'll be able to reach the bottom at some point."

S: "Yeah, I just need to learn how to stay a bit more calmer underwater, if I can do that...then I may have a shot...you got any ideas on how I can do that Nox?"

L: "I don't know a whole lot about helping people like that... But, from what I've learned about Earth, apparently people there do this thing called "hugging" when others are scared or stressed. If you know what that is, we could try that."

S: "Oh hugging... yeah I know what your talking about, that does help folks calm down, even me... I know whenever I'm sad that day, wartortle would always come to give me a hug to cheer me up, and it usually works...so I guess we could try a hug... just...don't poke me in the eye with those sharp points you got there, heh"

L: "Alright, I'll be careful." Nox slowly hugs Zippy, making sure not to poke them with anything in process. He smiles after a moment, closing his eyes. "This DOES feel nice..."

S: Zippy immediately sighs softly and hugs Nox back gently, closing his eyes and smiling as well
"Wow nox, you give a good hug... this feels really good..."

L: "This is my first time, I'm glad I'm already so good at it... Do you think doing this underwater would help? I'm pretty sure it will."

S: "Honestly...I definitely think I'll help! Once I hug you underwater, I think I'll be able to instantly get calm, your that good of a hugger...especially for someone's first ever hug...which is kinda sad, everyone needs a hug every now and again" Zippy hugs Nox a little tighter, smiling at him

L: "Yeah, hugs aren't a thing here... I bet they'll get popular though, once I start introducing people to them!"

S: "Oh totally, hugs are really great... anyways, I guess I'm ready to try again then! Maybe we can just keep hugging each other like this as we dive underwater? That's probably the best approach here"

L: "That should work, yeah. Alright, how about you count us down this time, instead of me?"

S: "Me? Well, ok...sure" Zippy takes a breath to relax himself "Here we go... 3....2....1!" Zippy takes a deep breath and holds his breath before going underwater slowly, giving time for Nox to take a breath as well as Zippy also pinches his nose shut again

L: Nox gasps and holds his breath just before going under, continuing to hug Zippy in the hope that it'll help them stay calm.

S: as Zippy gets nervous again, Nox's hug is helping Zippy a lot more then last time, actually able to stay relaxed as he hugs Nox back with his free arm, smiling up at him with puffy cheeks and a few bubbles loose from his mouth

L: Nox smiles back, and as he's still hugging Zippy, he starts swimming deeper again, bringing them with him.

S: as they go deeper, Zippy gets scared... but knowing Nox will protect him he relaxes his body, closing his eyes and focusing on his breath, managing to not let so many bubbles loose as he keeps his nose pinched shut

L: The two keep going deeper, and eventually they're just above the bottom. Nox smiles at Zippy once again, then looks around to see if anything interesting is nearby.

S: Zippy opens his eyes and smiles at managing to go deeper, his face only a tiny bit red as he lets go of Nox to go swim around and explore for something interesting

L: While he stays close to Zippy, Nox swims along the bottom to explore as well. Even if nothing is found, he's happy to have helped Zippy so much.

S: Zippy looks back at Nox with a happy smile as they explore around for something cool, eventually they find what seems like a cave in the distance

L: "Mm!" Nox happily nods, wanting to explore the cave and starting to swim toward it.

S: Zippy does too, his face slowly getting more red overtime as they start to swim inside the cave, he grunts a tad from the need to breathe as more bubbles escape his mouth, but this may be the place where they may find a way to get to earth

L: Nox keeps an eye on Zippy as they both swim, ready to help them quickly get back outside if they end up getting too low on breath.

S: as they keep on swimming, they actually stumble upon an air pocket halfway through the cave, along with a strange yellow door... seeing the air pocket Zippy swims up to it and gasps for air a bit heavily

L: Quickly surfacing next to Zippy, Nox catches his breath. "Did you see that door? That's really weird, I've never seen a door underwater before..."

S: "Yeah, I did see it...what was that?? I wonder if that door will lead back to earth..."

L: "Couldn't hurt to try... As long as where it leads is dark, anyway. From what I've heard about Earth, most of the light there is gonna hurt more than just my eyes..."

S: "Oh really? Well guess that makes sense...considering your character... guess we should take a look then"

L: "Alright, let's go see what's past that door! Hopefully we can actually open it, heh..."

S: "Yeah, same here" Zippy takes a deep breath and dives back underwater, pinching his nose again as he swims to the door

L: Nox holds his breath and dives as well, following Zippy to the door. He tries to open it, but the points on his legs can't get a good grip on it.

S: "Mmm mmm" Zippy stops Nox from trying, then easily opens the door to reveal the ocean which is the blue color and all on earth! Zippy doesn't hesitate and zooms inside the door, now in the ocean still holding his breath

L: Nox is briefly stunned at the sight of the blue water, but swims through to Zippy after a moment, looking all around his new unfamiliar environment.

S: Zippy gets excited as he's back in his home world, starting to swim up to the surface, looking back at Nox as he swims, they weren't that far from the surface...so Zippy was able to surface pretty easily

L: As Nox swims up with Zippy, he squints and begins looking nervous. Once he surfaces as well, he quickly starts looking around. "W-we need to find shade, NOW!"

S: "Whoa, what's the big hurry?? Are you ok?" Zippy turns to look at Nox

L: "Th-this light's gonna kill me if I stay in it too long! That's what I meant about it hurting more than my eyes!" Barely able to see, Nox starts quickly swimming in a random direction.

S: "WHAT?!?! Oh no... that's not good! Don't worry we'll get to shade I promise!" Zippy wraps his arm around Nox to help guide him back to shore, he kicks his legs as fast as can, hoping Nox will last long enough to get to somewhere dark

L: Nox changes his course to go with Zippy, trusting that they'll get him to shore and trying to swim as fast as possible.

S: Zippy zooms off and they later get to shore, where they find a huge tree with a decent amount of shade on it, Zippy directs Nox there and they later get to it safe and sound

L: Nox sighs in relief as he gets into the shadow, though he's still squinting a lot. "Th-thanks... I've never understood how you people survive here when the light is like that..."

S: "Heh, our bodies actually need light like this in order to survive, but since your so used to the dark, that doesn't apply to you...gee you must not be able to see that well with you squinting like that"

L: "Y-yeah, this is way too bright for me... Really cool to finally be here though!"

S: "Yep, welcome to Earth! Still can't believe that door led here... I mean you would probably like being the depths of the ocean, because it's pretty dark down there, if you were willing to go that far"

L: "I get the feeling I would, but I still have to breathe, and I don't want to be holding my breath for most of my time here..."

S: "True...how long can you hold your breath by the way? You definitely seem like you can outlast me easily...heh"

L: "My best is about 17 and a half minutes. Most umbrakin can only handle about 6, so I'm pretty proud of it."

S: "17 and a half mimutes?! Wow, impressive! Anyway...I would show you around, but I don't want you to get irritated from the sun, and it's gonna be several hours until it gets dark... so... I honestly don't know what to do" Zippy and Nox doesn't notice the strange deep water puddle just a few feet behind them, that certainly wasn't there before...

L: "I think I'll be fine with waiting until night, we don't exactly have much other option here..."

S: "Yeah...I guess so..." Zippy turns around to think and that's when he spotted that deep water puddle
"What the?! What is that doing here?? That certainly wasn't here before!"

L: Nox tries to look at it as well. "Was it not? Argh, I can barely see out there..."

S: Zippy looks down at the puddle, seeing that it's nice and dark
"Looks pretty murky down there, I bet you'll able to see better right down there, this puddle looks pretty deep and big too... it can fit both of us and it must have been caused by that big storm we got a few days ago"

L: "Well, it'll be better than being out here, at least. Hopefully this light's not gonna mess up my eyes..."

S: "Yeah, I don't any of this stuff to harm you in anyway, come on.. I'll lead the way" Zippy carefully gets into the puddle, guiding Nox with him into it... the water was cold, but Zippy didn't care for the moment, all he was focused on was protecting his new friend "Ok, were in the water...as soon as we submerge you should be able to see much better with how dark and murky the water is, alright?"

L: "Y-yeah, and get out of this light, too... I-I'm just gonna go under." Nox holds his breath and dives, quickly relaxing as the murky water blocks a lot of the light.

S: lowering his goggles over his eyes again, Zippy tales a deep breath and joins Nox underwater... even tho it is pretty murky, Zippy could at least see Nox as he swims over to hug him... this puddle is also pretty deep just like Zippy said, he looks up at Nox...hoping he's much better now

L: Nox does seem to be doing better now, not squinting any more as he hugs Zippy back, letting a few bubbles loose.

S: Zippy let's some bubbles loose as well, happy that Nox is doing ok...with that in mind he decides they should explore around for a little, gesturing for Nox to swim down deeper, still hugging him for now

L: With a nod, Nox starts going deeper, interested to see just how deep this water goes.

S: as they go down deeper, the water gets darker and murkier, eventually they land on the bottom, about 25 feet from the surface...even tho it's kind of shallow, it's still pretty dark...there's nothing interesting around, so Zippy sits down on the bottom to relax for a while

L: Nox sits next to Zippy, fully comfortable with the light level again, though a little disappointed there's nothing to see.

S: this was a perfect opportunity however for Zippy to improve on his breath holding, he swims up a tad to sit down in Nox's lap, being careful of his spike points on his legs, closing his eyes and just focusing on his holding his breath

L: Nox hugs Zippy to help them relax, getting an idea of what they're intending on doing.

S: Zippy hugs Nox back...and soon both of them relax on the bottom for a while, now being 10 and a half minutes as zippy's face is turning blue, his nose pinched shut as he starts whimpering out some bubbles, opening his eyes to stare at the distant surface above

L: With his own face almost fully red, Nox starts swimming up with Zippy, helping them get toward the surface.

S: they both get to the surface, light shining again as Zippy gasps in the air
"W-whoa... that felt so long! I wonder exactly how long I managed to stay down there??"

L: Nox gasps, looking around the now dark environment for a moment. "Think that was a bit over 10 minutes! And yeah, it got dark really fast!"

S: "10 minutes?! Wow! I'm good already!" now that it's dark, Zippy starts to yawn "Yknow what...it's been quite a long day for me... I feel like I should head home to my family now that I can and get some rest... feel free to walk around and explore... I'll try and see if I can see you again tomorrow... thanks for keeping me company all day"

L: "You're welcome! I'll try to find myself a nice dark place to hang out in during the day, I don't think your family is going to like how I look very much..."

S: "Yeah...they will definitely freak out for sure, maybe in the future I'll try and introduce you to them, but in the meantime I had a ton of fun hanging with you today! And I can't wait to tell my family that I can swim and dive! They are gonna be so proud of me!" Zippy climbs out of the puddle and shakes his body to get the water off, before helping Nox out of the puddle too

L: Nox hops out of the water easily enough, shaking himself off as well. "And you'll have quite the story for them, too! Never heard of someone from Earth actually getting BACK to Earth!"

S: "Haha! Yeah! That'll make for a viral story, but anyways...I guess I'll see you around then... your a great friend Nox!" Zippy then goes over to hug Nox tightly one last time

L: Nox hugs Zippy as well. "So are you! Man, I'm really looking forward to exploring Earth, as dangerous as it is for me..."

S: "Yeah, I'll be something for you alright... but for now...I'll catch ya later!" breaking from the hug, Zippy waves goodbye then zooms away into the night

L: Nox smiles as he watches Zippy run off, then sets off on his own to start exploring Earth.
