After weeks of rumors, we finally have some accurate, authoritative info to share. A representative of Hasbro has kindly sent us an email to confirm that My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale will be over soon. The statement they provided to us says that the show's biweekly schedule will continue until the last episode is released on October 17, 2024. Although the show is ending, it will remain available to stream on both YouTube and Netflix. Following two seasons of exciting, slice of life content, My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale is drawing to a close. New episodes of My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale will air bi-weekly until 17 October 2024. The series will remain available for audiences worldwide, with both seasons available on the My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale YouTube channel and series 1 currently streaming on Netflix. My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale has entertained fans around the world with magical adventures, while delivering positive messages about the value of diversity, inclusion, and friendship. As the series wraps up, our fans can continue to enjoy My Little Pony through innovative toys, games, and licensed consumer products that create joy and community for fans of all ages. This isn't the end of the journey for My Little Pony – stay tuned for more magical adventures to come! This statement is very similar to one that Hasbro provided to the Twitter user My Little Pony Facts a week ago. The information is presented in a different order, but there are only a few other minor differences, such as the newly italicized sentences. Today, September 24, is only the third anniversary of the release of My Little Pony: A New Generation on Netflix. Though it was the most ambitious and most well-reviewed My Little Pony film to date, G5 will apparently be the shortest of the five My Little Pony generations by a wide margin. With the abrupt end of Tell Your Tale, there isn't any known My Little Pony animated media that could be released in 2025, and there have been conflicting reports of whether there will be any My Little Pony IDW comics in 2025. Hasbro has separately revealed that there's a My Little Pony brand revamp scheduled for 2026. We don't know what form it will take yet, so whether it would be considered to be the sixth generation is unclear. In response to recent developments, several G5 cast and crew members have expressed their thoughts on social media. On September 18, Hannah (catmint), an animator who worked on My Little Pony: Make Your Mark, said on Twitter, "So incredibly sad to hear rumours that mlpg5 could be coming to a close soon πŸ₯² (I don't know if it is, I know as much as anyone!) But I AM incredibly happy that I had the opportunity to contribute to it, even if [its] airtime is short but sweet πŸ’—". On September 20, Derek Gomen (DJTHED), an animator who worked on My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure, said as part of a Twitter thread, "It's sad to see what's been happening with G5. Not just it being canceled, but also hearing negativity being spread towards those who enjoy G5." Also on September 20, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, the voice of Zipp Storm since 2022, said on Twitter, "lots of love to the mlp g5 fansβš‘οΈπŸ©΅πŸ’•πŸ€". On September 21, Léa Dabssi (Imalou), who worked on My Little Pony: A New Generation as the character designer for Sunny, Izzy and Sprout, said as part of a Twitter thread that they were "sad [the cancellation of G5] had to happen", that they "wish people will be nicer to g6 (if there is one happening even)", and that they felt that Hasbro "kind of gave up" on MLP. They also stated that they were "still super proud of what we did for the movie" and that they thought "g5 had potential but [it was] not well exploited". On September 22, Sophie Scruggs, who illustrated a few covers for the IDW My Little Pony comics, said on Twitter, "Sending love to @ImalouArt and everyone who had a hand in making g5 happen. You should be proud of your hard work to bringing these characters to life! πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸ’–" She had also previously said that "no matter what happens, the ponies you love are always there to enjoy and the fandom that started with FiM isn’t going anywhere!", to which Tee Franklin, a writer for the IDW comics, responded, "Sophie said it better than I could. πŸ’•"

Wow, it didn't even last as long as Gen 2 did.  I imagine the cost of the production had a lot to do with shutting it down.  It seemed fairly high-budget for a kids' show.  Here's hoping that Gen 6 will be mythic like Gen 1 and early-Gen 4 were.

I will watch some more of it first.  I have only ever seen little clips.  There is bound to be a torrent on yayponies or a Russian pirate site.

G4 will remain THE hard act to follow for that franchise. Hasbro will keep chasing that high but honestly I can't see this company being able to replicate that lighting in the bottle plus they'll set their expectations too high. Think of it like Nickelodeon trying to make a new SpongeBob and canceling every show that don't reach the quarter of popularity the Sponge had, Hasbro is as bad as Viacom in that regard
