Character Sheet for Blueberry Muffin
Species
Mountain Bluebird/Tatsugotchi
Character Description
Blueberry Muffin is a feral Mountain Bluebird, rescued from an unethical Exotic Bird Breeding Farm by Ray, his rabbit companion. Muffin is usually found sitting perched on Ray’s head or shoulders or toddling off and getting into trouble when curiosity gets the better of them.
Personality
Muffin is an explorative and curious bird, rushing toward anything of interest without pausing to consider the potential risks. Their moods can shift rapidly and intensely, though they never intend to cause harm. Protective to a fault, especially when it comes to Ray, Muffin often sees the world in extremes—quick to judge others as guilty until proven otherwise. They tend to assume the worst in people, yet paradoxically believe they can easily dodge any threat that comes their way. This overconfidence leads them to wander into risky situations, certain they can outmaneuver any danger at a moment’s notice.
Likes/Dislikes
Muffin loves exploring new places and diving into risky situations, finding excitement in the unknown. They’re protective of Ray and take pride in outsmarting others, always confident they can dodge danger. Cozy spots to rest between adventures are also a favorite.
However, Muffin dislikes being questioned or challenged, quickly growing frustrated with indecisiveness. They have little patience for gray areas, preferring clear-cut situations. Being ignored or dismissed irritates them, and they hate relying on others for help. They’re also uncomfortable with vulgarity and crude language, especially when it comes to explicit content, preferring to keep those matters private with Ray.
Background/History
Muffin was taken from their parents at a young age, stolen from the mountain foothills of a northern American state. They were sold to breeders and forced into a life of captivity. The breeders attempted to make Muffin copulate for offspring, but as Muffin was intersex and unable to reproduce, the breeders became increasingly frustrated. They subjected Muffin to harsher conditions, not understanding why they weren’t able to produce offspring, and continued to force reproduction attempts. Muffin endured years of cruelty, isolated and confused.
When Muffin reached adulthood, Ray, a vigilante known for helping the voiceless, was tipped off by local activists. They informed him that a bird breeding farm had been ramping up sales, leading to suspicion of illegal or unethical activity. The legal process to shut it down was moving too slowly, so Ray decided to take action, breaking into the farm to free the birds himself.
After releasing most of the birds, Ray found one bird remaining: Muffin. They appeared fragile, wounded, and isolated, but as Ray approached, Muffin quickly snapped into a defensive stance. Their feathers fluffed up in fear, they screeched at him, attempting to bite and claw at the stranger who they saw as another potential threat. Ray, however, backed off and calmly asked what they wanted—did they want to stay and risk the breeders returning, or leave with his help? Ray could see that Muffin was too injured to survive on their own, and he patiently waited for them to decide.
Muffin, panicked and breathing rapidly, didn’t want to trust Ray. They stared at him with wide eyes, in fight-or-flight mode, unsure of his intentions. However, their injuries left them too weak to fend for themselves. Eventually, Muffin’s exhaustion overcame their fear, and they allowed Ray to scoop them up. Ray gently placed Muffin into his pocket, where they could feel some semblance of safety.
Over time, Ray nursed Muffin back to health, offering them care they had never experienced before. Although skeptical at first, Muffin began to soften, realizing that Ray was different from the people who had harmed them. As Muffin recovered, they grew deeply attached to Ray, seeing him as the first person to show them genuine kindness. Ray became the center of Muffin’s world, and they devoted themselves entirely to him, their loyalty and affection unwavering.
