It's done! It's the BOYS! My little Wings of Fire troop finally have faces. Draite is a godsend <3. From left to right is Blackgum, Kobicha, and Sidewinder. The first two are about 13 years old in the series (late 20s in human years), and Sidewinder is around 15 (early 30s). I'm so delighted that they're finally visualized <3
For those who didn't read Wings of Fire- MudWings (this dragon species) form tight bonds with their clutch (brothers and sisters laid at the same time as them). They operate in these units, 'troops', for their entire life. They usually don't form significant bonds outside their troops- in fact, the tribes have mating nights where pairings are transient, clutches are laid, and on their own for the most part after that. No parent-child bonds. MudWings have a bigwings- the first hatched and the largest of their troop. Bigwings serve as the leader and guardian of their siblings from the start, immediately helping their siblings hatch after they do. Kobicha is the bigwings of our rather atypical troop starred in the Quicksand universe. Most troops also don't have a SandWing in them, but Sidewinder is just as much a loving part of the family as the MudWings- and the mate to both of them.
