Sea Slug (hypselodoris pulchella)
Personality
Eager to please and overexcited about making new friends, but extremely self-conscious and used to being rejected for being different. She may insist falsities in an effort to seem more "normal," such as that her mantle is just a hat, or that her eye-stalks are ears.
Likes/Dislikes
Likes:
Sugar, breads, sponges (she eats them), round things, water, being clean, the color orange
Dislikes:
Salt, rubbing alcohol, pointy objects, being different, pranks, ice cream, citrus fruit, being stared at
Background/History
She discovered that she could breathe above water by accident, but not much else is known about her past or her family. Her current residence is unknown.
World/Setting
Earth-like, semi-futuristic.
Body
Chitinous fibers grow just like mammalian hair from her head and can be managed similarly to it, but they're a little more rigid and the tips can poke at skin uncomfortably. The eye-stalks on her head are entirely functional, giving her the ability to see all around herself, although they don't distract her from her forward vision unless she focuses intently on it. She has thousands of tiny teeth which seem to simply form smooth white bars on the top and bottom of her mouth. Her body is covered in soft, pale flesh with an inner yellow glow, and is lined laterally with deep blue or purple frills (their tone varies by day). Her palms and the arches of her feet are similar to an ordinary slug's foot, and she may secrete mucus in them intentionally or, when she sweats, unintentionally.
Fiona's "tail" is actually a flower-like formation of gills that have adapted to breathing above water. The exposed gills are sensitive and can get irritated easily, so she tends to breathe from her mouth through a scarf or other clothing if she finds the air to be unsuitable. She can consciously close the "petals" of her tail into a more pointed shape.
The mucous membranes on her ventral side would allow her to slither around or stick to a surface on her belly...but she probably wouldn't do that.
Clothing
Wears loose clothing, often separated in the back to leave her mantle exposed, although she will (uncomfortably) conceal it if she has no choice. When her mantle is showing, it isn't uncommon for the rest of her clothing to be suspended entirely by her shirt.
