Seems like Virmir did more than just a reset.

Further notes: Virmir, possibly out of aggression or frustration, used excess magic (or power, if you prefer) to reset Simba's, for lack of a better term, curse. This caused him to replicate the first transformation he caused on someone else. This transformation is easily reversible and is unlikely to happen again.
