Roxie has had a rough young life, bouncing around from one foster home to the next, never really staying in one place too long until now. Roxie's been part of drug trafficking, cub prostitution, and more cause of some of the foster homes that she's been in, not to mention all of the bullying she's gotten from some of the other foster kids in the different orphanages she's been sent to in her young life. This picture is while she's living with the Brenson's, having had a really rough week with getting suspended for protecting her big sister Layla and after failing 3 big tests in a row. This is when her bad side shows, an alternate version only she sees in mirrors, the dark part of Roxie that is all of her dark thoughts and depression manifested into her biggest nightmare, herself.
This piece really hits home for me and was a hard piece to want done, but I wanted to rip this band-aid off first and get it done. I love my little Roxie, and it hurts to see this, but it's part of her story that I want to share with all of you here. There will be sequel pieces to this in the future, so keep an eye out
Roxie's foster parents had been called in to talk with her counselor, and her sisters were out at the mall for the day leaving the cub alone at home. It wasn't something that the cheetah was really too unfamiliar with, she'd been called to the office and gotten suspended before, but this time it was different. This time Roxie was REALLY trying to show to the Brenson's that she was a good girl, that she was worthy of being adopted, that she wanted to be a part of their family forever if they'd keep her. Now though...it was just like the first time, she was worried that she'd messed it all up, that nothing would keep her in that home and she'd be stuck in the orphanage again, but this time until she became an adult. Roxie did all that she could to try and keep Lucy and Leon from going to the meeting, but when they left for it anyway Roxie resigned herself to getting a shower to try and calm her emotions and thoughts down.
Roxie walked back into her room up in the attic, wearing just her grey panties and black top, her fur still dripping a little bit since she hastily dried herself off. Her standing mirror showed herself in its reflection, her messy hair covering her emerald eyes. The cub ran her hands over her face and groaned, before turning herself around to grab her pants.
“It'll be fine, Lucy and Leon are nice...they won't get mad at me for this.” Roxie said to herself, hoping to clear her bad thoughts.
“Pfft, please. You really think that they're just gonna let this slide and everything will be just fine and dandy?” Roxie replied to herself, but...that couldn't be true. It was only her standing in the room, no one else. That's when it hit her, it couldn't be her again...no, it just couldn't be her. The tomboy turned around quickly, seeing her reflection in the mirror, but her eyes weren't their gorgeous emerald green. This time they were almost a bright and vibrant red, and a wicked smirk showed on her face.
“N...no....y-your not supposed to be here...WHY ARE YOU HERE!?” Roxie yelled at herself in the mirror.
“Oh please, I've always been around, we're the same person after all. Besides I'm not the one being a bad girl and getting in a shit ton of trouble. You're doing such a wonderful job of fucking your life up again, and I just can't help but watch.” Mirror Roxie replied, letting out a cackle, words starting to fill the emptiness of the mirror behind her.
“N-No! I'm a good girl! I've always been a good girl!” Roxie cried, tears starting to run down her cheeks, her nose becoming stuffy.
“Oh yeah? What good girl fails three tests in a row, doesn't tell her parents, and then goes and beats up a high school girl and threatens her for picking on her older sister? Doesn't sound like a good girl to me? I bet Lucy and Leon have already been on the phone with Ms. Bridget, they're probably talking about pulling you from school and sending you back with your counselor right now. Ms Bridget is gonna be so mad at you, and won't let you go to anymore foster homes now.” Mirror Roxie sneered, crossing her arms as she looked over the real Roxie.
“SHUT UP! They wouldn't do that! Th-They love me, they told me that I'm their daughter!” Roxie cried out, crossing her own arms now, her legs and tail starting to shake while she had the argument with her thoughts.
“Oh did they? You know as well as I do that they're just telling you that so they can use you to get extra tax money, they only seem interested so that you'll stick around. I bet the won't ever adopt you, and your sisters are just lying to you anyway. They're in on it too, playing the good sisters to get new gadgets and clothes, you've seen them come home with new things, and go shopping like today? Where do you think Layla got the money anyway?” Mirror Roxie growled, her smile getting wider.
“N-N-N-No.....y-y-your wrong, they would never...” Roxie whimpered.
“Never what use you like all the others did? Cast you away like some cheap plaything? Lie to your face and tell you that they love you when they actually hate you being here? Just face it girl, you're a useless, parentless, slutty whore, that no one wants around in their lives cause you just drag them down. Hell, you already made the noose a couple days ago when you failed that second test. It needs a test run.” Mirror Roxie chuckled, seeing her real self trembling intensely, trying to get out of the spot she was in right now.
“St-Stop it...” Roxie whimpered weakly, her eyes glancing over to her open closet that had the noose hanging from the top shelf inside. Her eyes moving back to the mirror and seeing all the words floating around inside it now.
“You know as well as I do that you should just do it. Everyone would be happier if you'd just hang yourself.” The reflection stated.
“STOP IT!!!!” Roxie screamed, her eyes shut and pushing more tears out.
“Well the choice is yours girl, you can either live in misery knowing that this family doesn't love or want you, or you can just finish what you've already started and save everyone the trouble of having to deal with you. So pick already.”
