Again, not the thing I was looking for, but I wanted something to upload.

This may've been inspired from an album cover or something. I don't know as my mother rarely showed me her art. I'm seeing most of these drawings for the first time.

A FAIR WARNING:

Unlike me, my mother liked to look at pictures from coloring books and redraw them. Some of the drawings here are many years old and I don't know the inspirations/derivations of their sources. Additionally, my mother took a literal translation to symbols and cultural artifacts. For example, though she was a Christian, she made use of the 'Peace' sign, taking it for what she thought it meant/represented (I won't upload anything of hers that used that symbol).

I have also removed my mother's signature from her work, mostly because she signed everything with her real name. :P
Additionally, my mother (like me) was autistic, so some of her grammar, spelling and poetry may read oddly. ^^

Last, she had a thing for Native American art and symbols, but (so far as I know) she knew nothing about them (I could be wrong, but I know my mother only recently discovered the internet, and even then, she mostly stuck to FaceBook---I don't think she ever visited Wikipedia).
So, if anything of hers that I upload here offends you, know the art and the person who made it came from a good place. Still don't like it and aren't mature enough to look away? Ok, cry to a moderator and not to me---I'll not take any of it down voluntarily (accept that any way you like).

I read before you edited. lol

I agree; she became a Christian late in her life. This drawing was made way before that time.

Ya I wasn't sure if that was appropriate or not but that makes sense. I love Lou Reeds work especially his later material so this was actually a pleasant surprise. She got the feel of that song perfectly! :)

lol I dunno anything about such music. I tend to listen to the general poppy stuff suitable for the radio. I have my playlists on YT I listen to now and then. I'm not a music person, really.
I listened to the song you linked to just now ...it was ok, I suppose (not my thing). My mother had a collection of records long ago---I dunno what all was among them nor what happened to them.

Last, I'm hard to offend, but if you (or anyone) ever did, I'd not leave a doubt in anyone's mind about it. :3

ADDENDUM: And you see why I don't upload a lot of Christian stuff. I'd hate to do that only for a watcher to point out my drinking habits and art of naked cubs. :P

Where my mother is concerned, I suppose one can see what Christ was able to save her from. :3

Totally understand. I enjoy whatever you want to share with us and consider it
a treat when it shows up in my watch list. :)
And yes that era had a stigma it's still trying to deal with. I'm glad she was able
to get out because a lot of people sadly weren't, which is what a lot of Lou's songs
were about ironically.

This song was written 1989 from his album "New York" but it could easily EASILY!! be about now. You don't have to listen to all of it but this is my favorite song of his just because it's so hard in it's message.    https://youtu.be/HA4-4ifhixg?si=xQW1RLayYf_13HuU  He got in a lot of trouble for this song from New Yorkers for pointing out the problems he saw but that's what he did.

If your mother had any Lou Reed Albums she has my admiration and acknowledgement for her good taste. :D

I love your mom's art, but I was wondering what you mean about the "peace symbol."  I thought it was an inverted life-rune in a circle to represent voiding (the circle) of death.  I didn't know it was a British nuclear thing until I saw your description just now.

The reason I'm replying to this comment is because I wanted to say that Christianity isn't a morality badge.  I don't go to church, I just read the KJV bible (alongside the NIV for comparison) sometimes.  I see the Old Testament as there to provide context for the New Testament.  Ultimately, I see Christianity as a sort of spiritual recognition of all Men as equals before God.  There's no punishment for non-believers or "two-tiered" system of rules to Christianity.  We are all sinners, that's in the Book...

She uses so many symbols, runes, artifacts, etc.m in her art that I gave up trying to 'moderate' it, save to remove her real-name signature (these drawings were never intended to be shared online). Besides, I've uploaded NSFW art here---what am I doing fretting about a peace sign? :P

Man isn't at all equal to God---we bear His image, but we are only an image (and even then, only when we choose to reflect it).
There are rules: we are to do the will of God, to begin with. Additionally, we are told Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light---no one comes to the Father but through Him (that's in the book). :3

Yes, but what does the "Peace Symbol" mean?  You mention it specifically.  I want to know what you mean.  I always drew it wrong (on accident) because I just, "drew it from memory" and didn't like copying symbols too directly.

===

I didn't say Man is equal to God.  It's that all Men are created as equals to each other before God.  Christianity is that there is no "born into higher status" regarding God.  There is no "two-tier system" of Man in Christianity.

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

It's Life, not "Light."  Does Lucifer mean, "light-bringer?"

I quoted it wrong, then---I try to go by memory but that's ...not always wise. Point remains that Christ is the only way to salvation. :3

I'd read it represented a broken cross or something like that. There's always something hidden in these things, but again I've stopped caring about it, hence I'm dropping this conversation (don't like me, these uploads, or descriptions? Awesome! Don't engage with, look at, or read them).

Have a great day. :3

Going off memory is why I drew the "Peace" sign upside down on my skunksona's jacket.  Squonker is the name of my skunky skunk~!  I didn't know that the "Peace" symbol was supposed to be upside down, so I guess I ended up making my own symbol on accident.  I usually go off memory or instinct when drawing "symbols."

Symbols are somehow controversial now.  "Symbols" are (probably) why I got permabanned from FA. They didn't ever give me a specific ban reason, but I wrote 4 white letters on a red propeller hat on Squonker, so that is probably why.

Anyway, thanks again for sharing all this cool artwork and for chattin' with me about it.  I like it a lot, your Mom seems like she would have been chill to hang out with, good music taste as well.  A nice way to remember her

The symbol may not have had a malevolent origin, but it's been hijacked by those who used it that way. It's like the swastika in that sense: once it was used by a bad group of people, it became inseparable from and forever associated with them.
But, like I said, I've stopped caring about it (when I first wrote this disclaimer, I was expecting people to criticize my mother's art ...that didn't happen, so I've stopped pasting it in these descriptions).

But it is true my mother drew a lot of things she didn't understand, so I felt I should say something because I also don't know what a lot of these symbols, runes, feathers, etc., are about---I didn't even know this drawing was referring to a music video until a watcher told me about it. ^^

I'm sorry if I came across as rude. I'm the type who tries to drop things before they start (I despise drama).

svasti-s?  The su- means "good" and the -asti means "as it is."  It literally means "good luck" in sanscript.  Pretty sure we are outnumbered in regard to the "democracy" of that symbol.  It's the name of countless modern entities, especially in the Eastern world.  Literally right now, tons of companies with that name.

From my research, "Peace sign" 1st appeared as a government controlled "anti-nuclear" organization.  They called it "Fairness Doctrine" and it means that the group that first used it was the government pretending to be a grassroots organization for the purpose of forcing the media to air pre-constructed arguments for the purposes of social engineering.

I don't believe in nuclear bombs either.  I can see the editing effects in the original testing videos.  The "gate weave" inconsistencies are too obvious.  Dodge/burn on old school celluloid does that.

===

I think this song is about doing drag or crossdressing, but it was a popular song when it came out.

Also, I see symbols the other way around.  The come out in the artwork "automatically."  The use of any symbol knowing and directly feels artificial to me.  It has to happen naturally for it to be authentic, and also accidentally.

===

Also, I think this art has a kind of "Alice in Wonderland" "Hookah" theme.  A "hookah" is that thing the caterpillar was puffing on.  It's a type of tobacco.

Sun/moon simultaneously behind the skull.

A "happy leaf" ;3

Also, I used to draw a lot of candles and skullz myself.  Literally one of the first things I learned to draw~! <3

Funfact : Skulls are an "illegal symbol" in China.  Showing a skull is illegal for far more people than all of us in the West. x3

I'd really be interested to know what she had in her collection and I'd
wager that this was in there. It was a product of it's time and it's creator
so if she grew up in that time ya she'd for sure own it. And no need to apologize.
Music is a subjective thing and I don't have any problem to what a person does
or does not like / listen to. Just enjoy what you do is all I ask. :D

And I appreciate that. Thankyou. :)
