Episode 2: The Waves of The Heart; The Birth of MerNeko

In the Mewzaki residence, Umi woke up and got a shower, then she got changed into a one-piece swimsuit that was blue with pink stripes. Soon, she heard a knock as she got white button-down shirt and jean shorts on.
"I'm dressed," Umi said as her father, Koji Mewzaki, came in.
"I see you are ready for that beach trip," Koji said.
"Indeed, I am," Umi said. Her mother, Megumi, came in to see her.
"I am glad you made a new friend who invited us to spend a day at the beach with her and her mother," Megumi said. Later, the three arrived at the beach, where Umi saw Marina and her mother, Luchina, a collie with flowing red hair.
"So, you must be Umi. I am Luchina Colliesworth, Marina's mother," Luchina said. Later, as Koji got some burgers on the grill and Megumi and Luchina talked, on another side of the beach, Umi was in the water with Marina, who was in her mermaid form, as she used her magic to let Umi breathe underwater as they saw the fish.
"So, your mom used to be a mermaid princess in a kingdom," Umi said.
"Yes, she was a mermaid who knew magic. One day, she managed to use a spell to become human. Soon, she met my dad, and they married and had me," Marina said. Later, after the two surfaced (and Marine became a collie), she would gift Marina with a wristband with a blue seashell.
"This is like the one you are wearing," Umi said.
"It is. This is one of the four MerMaiden Bands. I have one, and mom wanted you to have this, as we talked, and we decided you have the heart and courage to become a MerMaiden," Marina said. Suddenly, with the grown-ups, Tabbycrab has appeared and scared everyone off. Soon Marina heard the commotion and saw Tabbycrab.
"Well, looks like it's time for MerInu again," Marina said as she used her seashell band to transform. Umi said it and decided to try and imitate it.
"MerMaiden, Aquafication," Umi yelled, as soon, the seashell started glowing and a bubble formed around her, causing her swimsuit to vanish, leaving her in her all-gray fur. Suddenly, her long black hair became blue and was tied into a ponytail, and water covered her body, arms and legs, forming into an outfit similar to MerInu's, only instead of being red, it was all blue, and the bow was light blue with a pink seashell. Umi looked at herself and was amazed.
"Wow, I actually transformed," Umi said as she felt her hair and saw the blue mermaid tail-like bow on her tail. Soon, Marina, now MerInu, faced Tabbycrab.
"Hey, Tabbycrab, I didn't remember inviting you out to the beach," MerInu said.
"I think you did, but the invite got lost in the ocean current," Tabbycrab said as he slapped a black starfish on the cooler, turning it into a Sharkanoid.
"Sharkanoid," the cooler Sharkanoid said as it and MerInu began to fight, as Umi watched.
"Wow, I wonder if i can do this, but I need to think up of a good magical girl name," Umi said. Suddenly, she saw MerInu shot at by a soda can turned into a missile, and she jumped in and knocked it away with a slap.
"Whoa," Umi said.
"What in Davy Jones' Locker is this? A blue haired cat ripping you off," Tabbycrab asked. Umi was shocked, as she tried to explain.
"Watch you mouth. I just got these powers, and haven't even thought of a name for myself," Umi said, when MerInu got up and comforted her.
"I guess I should introduce you. This is MerNeko, my new ally in the fight to protect Seafoam Bay from your dark mistress," MerInu said.
"MerNeko," Umi asked.
"I thought it up last night since it would match my name, as Inu is Japanese for dog, Neko is Japanese for cat,' MerInu said.
"Well, that actually fits," Umi, now MerNeko, said as the two stood together.
"Well, then that just means my Sharkanoid gets to have more fun by having a second target," Tabbycrab said. Soon, the two heroines were dodging more soda can missiles, and soon, MerNeko heard something from the ocean.
"What was that," MerNeko said.
"That's the spirit of the ocean. She is teaching you your attack," MerInu said.
"Okay. Mermaiden, Sealing Bubble," MerNeko yelled as she fired a bubble at the Sharkoid, trapping it inside.
"Nice. This makes thing easier. Mermaiden, Aqua Putification," MerInu said as she fired her attack, purifying the Sharkoid back to a cooler and making all the damage disappear.
"Blast it. Next time, you two will pay for interferring," Tabbycrab yelled as he retreated. Later, the two heroines, now detransformed back into Marina and Umi, would come back to their parents as they returned.
"Umi, did you see what happened? Some freakish cat with crab arms attacked us," Koji asked.
"We did. MerInu came to stop him, and she was aided by this girl she called MerNeko," Umi said.
"MerNeko," Megumi asked.
"I think she means MerInu has found a friend to aid her in battle," Luchina said. And so, the Mewzakis and Colliesworths continued their beach day, with Umi and Marina hanging out.
