He is a mechanic artificer, and loves to tinker with vehicles and is very skilled at driving them.
His coat is essentially a bag of holding. or coat of holding. the many pockets inside, holding all the various gadgets and gizmos and whozits and whatzits and thingamabobs galore to cast his spells.
don't tease him about his size though, if you do, you feel the fury of the small as he goes all out against you
