Some of the heaviest muscle of the Virus Busters guild in Dawn is Boogie, who was just a regular Sunflowmon for a long time until one day Gleam took a shine to him...
A wannabe ladykiller who, while charming, just can't ever seem to really seal the deal with any of the ladies he persues. Maybe because he tries too hard, or maybe just because women can smell the insecurity on him. He loves socks and limb warmers, though he's had to get some new ones to go with his new coloration, since his old pink ones don't quite match so well anymore. He's best friends with Fever, a poetic Vemmon who is equally pathetic in the realm of romance, if not moreso, and idolizes Boogie's perceived success with women.
When Umbra initially returned, the party thought that Gleam and Mooch had been kidnapped due to their sudden, wordless disappearance, and enlisted Boogie to help search Dawn for them. He was the most successful in tracking them down, but Umbra didn't take kindly to the interruption, turning Boogie into a blazing blue fireball tumbling down the hill. The party were able to stabilize him, but he nearly died from the encounter, and when Gleam later heard about what he'd gone through trying to save a girl he barely knew, her heart went out to him.
She visited him in the hospital to gift him a nice sunhat and a kiss on the cheek, and offered him any reward he wanted in exchange for nearly losing his life. Boogie wanted sex. He didn't expect Gleam to agree!
Rose was still in her whore era at the time so she ended up jumping Boogie first and then hustling the rest of the group out of town before Gleam could track him down to give him the reward he asked for, so it wasn't until a week or two later that she was able to make good on her promise and then some, offering him a place in the Tide. Power, durability, confidence-- She often referred to the infection as her 'anti-anxiety' virus, and felt that Boogie deserved that freedom now that she knew how to spread her mate's virus without the memory-erasing side effect.
I'm not really sure why he accepted, honestly. The Tide weren't all that well regarded socially at the time since they were a pretty unknown factor, but I think it must have meant a lot to him that Gleam had been thinking of him all the time, and wanted to keep him in her life in such a permanent way? Or maybe her romanticized version of it was just very persuasive to him.
He and Fever briefly had a falling out over it due to Fever's history in The Metal Empire, but eventually reconciled.
