Rose, as a Warlock, is beholden to a patron for the use of her powers. In her case, this was a pact she was 'born' with when she woke up six months before the campaign began, and her patron is the crazed, bitter Voice In The Dark, a formless voice that has mocked her from within for as long as she could remember.
While trying to rescue Command Village from the grip of a virus-crazed necromancer, Rose made a sacrifice, but when her body was about to hit the ground, a wireframe claw burst from the earth and dragged her into nothingness instead, returning it in the form of [DexDorugamon, a shambling, rotted facsimile of the previous shimmering diva. While Rose had it out internally with Voice, her body was temporarily inhabited by Poppy, a fragmented piece of Voice's personality that would then remain with Rose for the rest of her adventure.
Sinister and immoral, but jovial and loving, Poppy was a very strange personality to contend with, especially once Voice adjusted her deal with Rose to include a clause that gave her control of their shared body for 24 hours, once a week, and putting the Poppy aspect of her mind behind the reins. If Rose was going to be so ungrateful and petulant about the gift of life she had, then Voice would take a portion of it for herself.
Rose's rookie-sized body has a little trouble containing Poppy's Champion-sized personality, so it's pretty obvious just looking at her when Poppy is in control. She's gwoss. <3 And I love her very much.
