Just me pondering on the insanity of some religous etc.. nutjobs who are arguing for upholding or making restrictive and hurtfull laws to minorites based on some dusty tomes or egoistic delusion of moral grandeur.
well.. as an extreme example.. yes.. but also any law forbidding same sex marriage.. in western society marriage is very much a legal issue, affecting things like taxation, inheritance, shared ownership, adoption within the family and so on... people and laws denying same sex couples these basic rights, while claiming to protect the sanctity of marriage, is kinda bollocks.. Drug laws.. i personally think that people should have rights to their own bodies and minds.. yes, drugs are dangerous.. so is owning a gun, driving a car, smoking, alcohol, fatty and salty foods.. candy.. i personally think that the whole drug war thing is exremely irresponsible, prohibition only breeds criminals and cartels, the more extreme the laws and punishments are, the more extreme the criminals keeping up the drugbusiness will become. the whole drugs issue should be moved out of criminal laws, and into a healthcare issue... Income that any state would get from the taxation of these substances would nicely cover any healthcare issues coming from their usage.. besides, those healthcare issues are already there, amount of illegal drugs consumed internationally has only been rising, as is the amount of money spend in this stupid "war".. the illegality of these substances only hurt people.. every one.. and so forth and so on... Legislation should be there to protect and to guide, not to punish individuals who are merely doing things affecting their personal lifes, their bodies, their minds...
