It's been a long while since I last made an actual character sheet for Kinaru, and with the end of my storyboard detailing the shift from V2 to V3 I figured it was the perfect time to put one together!
Alias: Kin (male form), Naru (female form) Species: Kitsune Age equivalent: Late 20s. Actual age depends on setting. Gender: Genderfluid, though will tend to stick with one general physicality for extended periods of time for sake of convenience. Attraction: Technically Kinsey 3- Kinsey 1 that swaps meanings between forms. Not typically the type to actively seek out though. Canon Partner: Med-Night; open-poly relationship
---------- Traits/skills ---------- Physical potential: Not particularly strong. Decently flexible, great endurance.
Mental potential: Tends to note and theorize on just about everything in the vicinity. Rarely delves deeply into any given subject but picks up actionable knowledge whenever possible.
Magical potential: Fairly strong, but specialized. In settings that allow it typical spells include
Foxfire; Up to three blue and white flames under mental command. Actual heat given off ranges from atmosphere to warm enough to be slightly uncomfortable to hold against skin for long periods of time. White inner-flame can condense and emit kinetic energy in such a way as to to emulate a solid object with a rubbery tactile feel.
Form shift; Switch freely between the male and female spectrum. More advanced versions of this also allow shifting along the anthro and feral spectrum.
---------- Special Note: Hazel Hill setting ----------
Due to some oddities in how the world is constructed Kinaru is one of three main mortals-turned-gods, the other two being his mate Med-Night and a scientist Benjamin C. Norvil. This status gives each of them seemingly perfect immortality and full control over a certain domain; with Med-Night having control over matter, Norvil over mind, and him over energy. In order to keep from going completely insane from the altered status they all use Norvil's domain to compartmentalize and lock away their memories, living different but similar lives over the course of the world's ages. As such in this setting Kinaru may be able to access but have limited use over the ability below depending on the incarnation he takes at the given period in the setting's time:
Energy manipulation; Full control over 'energy' in all its forms. This includes conversion between heat, light, and kinetic energy (as examples), directionality of said energies, and conversion between free-flowing energy and 'matter'. Cannot reconfigure matter without first breaking it down to energy and even then can't really reconstruct it as anything more complex than a block or blob of a single element or relatively simple compound.
---------- Other Notes ----------
In general Kinaru is laid back and introspective, preferring to be an observer of the world than a shaper of its flow. Tends to be a bit overly cautious but is willing to take on extra risk if duty demands or the potential reward outweighs the worst case scenario.
Defining trait: Three-sided. While one individual, Kinaru's personality tends to subdivide itself into three distinct modes of processing the world around him.
The philosopher: Standard mode of thinking, when deep in this headspace Kinaru's risk tolerance is almost zero and his thoughts focus almost entirely on trying to decipher and deconstruct the inner-workings of the world and inhabitants around him. Useful for navigating delicate situations or giving impartial advice but terrible at matters where emotion should play a role.
The performer: Unlike the philosopher, the performer puts very little thought into the depths of those around except for surface-level input. Time seems to slow down with focus being on keeping tabs on every change in the physical space around. Extremely useful for acting decisively when excess thought would be a hindrance, but potentially useful feelings such as embarrassment and fear are toned down in this headspace.
The primal: Fairly underutilized mode, but present nonetheless. Pure emotion without the weight of deep analysis or the exhaustion of keeping tabs on every physical object in the space around. The philosopher would be inclined to associate the primal only with sexual drive, but in truth this side is as associated with joy, despondence, determination, and generalized passion as much as any simple biological impulse. While the philosopher is a specialist in dealing out sage advice and the performer can masterfully bring amusement to those around, the primal is the one that is really needed to forge true heartfelt connections with others.
