Heyo everyone! Id like to introduce ya to Ao-m8. Manufactured by Misuto in 2001 at the bustling centre of kyoto, and on the bleeding edge of technology at the time with a fully capable read/write DVD player, RS232 connection for diagnosis and easy updates via the brand new windows XP and Mac OS X 10.0! A huge 8 Gigabytes of RAM, and a 50 Gigabyte hard drive and with the power of an intel Pentium 4 mean it was not only able to hold up to 35000 MP3 files, or up to 200 MP4 videos! it was able to recognise faces, walk toward and track you with its head, using its high clarity Fujifilm developed 1.3 Megapixel camera, and with its powerful antennae, could wirelessly connect the internet via voice recognition! It also featured a small rocket pack and a massive 800Mah Ni-MH battery allowing for a whole 30 minutes of runtime without the need to charge! It is also able to fully mimic your facial expressions and react to what you say with a full colour Plasma display for a face and condenser microphone, and respond using a Hi-fi clarity stereo speaker! No need to worry about plugging it in, Ao knows when its tired and will charge itself on a dock if its nearby. Its proximity sensors will know when you are close, and may even beg for a petting routine, it will be able to feel every drop of affection with a capacitive, touch sensitive body, and will react to your every action! its almost as if it was a real pet, without the mess!
In all seriousness, yes, Ao's specs dont really hold up to todays standards, but he was designed to be a companion! Hes not the lightest friend with the nature of his build Probably heavier than the largest laptops of the time. You could pick him up and carry him around if you wanted to as hes only a couple foot tall, but probably not for very long, partially due to his weight, but mostly because of his awkward shape, and lack of holding areas. Regardless though, despite running on a binary archetecture, hes eager to make new friends!
