The pit would be a supernatural entity, one that travels dimensions.Once fed enough the real danger appears as the pit becomes a giant monster set on world destruction. the wolf man and the creature coming out of the pit in the picture are creations of the pit itself, they exist only to feed it and they are quite powerful
As you can see this is a Chuck and Jack adventure, a story about the first time they meet Scrooge and the others. This is also set before Della duck returned to earth and before Webby had Leena and Violet as friends
