I've had a particular design for six, almost seven years now, and there's no fading at all. On the flipside though, I don't expose it to the sun that often (funny what UV rays can do to ink) and if I do there's ALWAYS sunscreen involved. Additionally, certain colours are known for heavy fading (red can be bad, depending on the person).
Generally, so long as you take care of things, there shouldn't be too many problems with fading.
