I'm sure just about anyone with a strong creative streak has done much the same. Plus or minus the poetry. Some of the best ideas come to you while you're off drifting in your own little world, after all.

Ah, I see. Well that certainly puts you several points above me! Though I've always sort of dreamed about going into outer space, too. Blame it on all those re-runs of Star Trek TOS I watched as a kit.
I definitely hear ya on the last comment, too. Would that we could all find such a place.

I've been watching TOS since the first reruns in the early '70s, so I know how much Star Trek was such an inspiration-- "The Corbomite Maneuver" and "The Tholian Web" remain two of my all-time episodes. ;) (I was in Trek fandom from '74-'77, but I have never tired of Trek-- I still need to get most of the movies and three of the series on DVD, though... I already have TOS, TAS and TNG on DVD already! :D )
As for that "special place", I'm reminded of a line from an old song from the '60s- "There's a Place in the Sun, where there's room for everyone"-- I'm still looking... This is why I dream of secluded forests, valleys, islands, and of course, distant planets-- Some place where I can be free, even if I must be there alone.... :( I never asked to be what I am, and to avoid the scorn directed at those like myself, I'd rather take myself out of the equation... :(

(Just to clarify- Exile, not suicide. I'm incapable of killing myself, much less harming anyone else, but I have gotten close to that emotional state. :( )

I'm glad to know you don't mean suicide. I admit I was a bit worried when I read that just now, though I've been there a time or two, myself. To the point that I don't know where I'd be without certain friends looking out for me. Though I'd hate to see you have to go into exile, too. Though I've been there, too, and I suppose that, in a way, my cloistering myself in the furry fandom is a sort of exile as it's here where I find people who understand and accept me, more than I'd ever find in the real world.

Amazingly, same here-- The furry community has been the only community I've ever felt welcome in, and often kinda wished there was an actual physical community for furs where I could consider going to, not just the cons and such... Furry has a long history of tolerance and liberalism that's been years ahead of the rest of the world...
