Not everyone is as lucky as me, because I have a big brother. As children, we did everything together, whether it was playing at home with our toys or with our little sister, but I dare say that our best memories are when we traveled to the beach for a month where there was no access to a phone, television, video games, nothing, just each other's company.
Going down memory lane, I remember a day when we were alone on the beach, and due to a strong oceanic current, I was pulled to where I couldn't stand, and he, who was not even a 10-year-old and would not be able to stand either, ran to save me. We both could have easily drowned and just been part of a sad statistic, but thanks to this love from my big brother (and a lot of luck, of course), I'm here and able to tell this story to you.
And a funny thing is that in our lives, we never fought, not even as kids. We both knew how to swallow our pride in the name of prioritizing the ones we always loved, and you know what? That's the best thing we've ever done.
I know that many families are terrible, but if yours is not, remember to show love to those you care about, because one day it may be too late.
