Chapter 2: The Next Generation

“Hmm. So this is it, huh?” Jack and Pecan stood in front of the entrance to Wigglytuff’s Guild. Flames flickered and danced in the torches placed on either side of the walkway as the oranges of sunset gave way to the darkness of night. The gated off entrance loomed over them with the building’s large eyes for windows staring at them almost as if judging the pair preliminarily.

“Yep. I’ve come by here several times, been inside only a few. I’ve heard great things about this guild though–this guild’s greatest pride and accomplishment is having the Saviors of Time and Darkness as alumni, former apprentices now graduates into a full-fledged team! If Pokemon like that can come from this guild’s training then who knows what we could become~”

“Saviors of Time and Darkness?” Jack blinked, head tilted and curiosity raised.

“Oh! That’s a bit of a long story. To make a long story short, let’s just say we have them to thank for the world being the way it is now. C’mon! The night isn’t getting any younger, let’s get in there.” Pecan stepped forward, approaching the gate before stopping short, Jack following close behind. “Take a look down, Jack.”

“Eh?” He did as instructed and looked down before stepping back a bit. “Wha–?? What’s with the grating on the floor? Is that some kinda pitfall trap?”

“Not quite. It may look like it’d give in under our weight but you’d be surprised how incredibly sturdy it is. Go ahead and step on it~” Jack was a bit skeptical at first. Pecan sounded almost… excited for some reason. Maybe it was because of them going to register to become a team. It was kinda cute seeing her like this. He decided to shrug it off, surely she wouldn’t decide to play pranks now, right? She seemed really serious about this whole ordeal after all.

“So I just, uhh… step on it then?” Jack placed a foot down onto the grate. Slowly, he applied more and more pressure until he was standing properly in its center. “...Huh. Y’know what you were right, this is pretty sturdy–”

“POKEMON DETECTED! POKEMON DETECTED!”

“FUCK!!” Jack nearly jumped out of his fur at the sudden outburst from… below?

“WHAT FOOTPRINT!?”

“Footprint!? PECAN! You set me up!”

“THE FOOTPRINT IS PIKACHU’S! THE FOOTPRINT IS PIKACHU’S!”

“PECAN!!” The Emolga practically toppled over laughing at her partner, holding her gut and pointing at the distressed Pikachu.

“PFFFFT HA!!....Haaahh hahaaa! Hoooohh that was SO worth it~! You’re fine, you’re fiiiine, this is just their security system.”

“Security–what kinda security system stares at my feet then screams at me!?”

“I dunno! It’s the first I’ve ever seen. I near jumped outta my fur first time I stepped on that grate too, the moment that happened I knew I had to get someone with it~” She giggled, wiping the tears from her eye and standing back up as the gate in front of the guild’s entrance lowered into the ground, a Purugly stepping outside to greet them with piercing gray eyes and deep dark spots beneath that made them look ten levels of too tired for this shit.

“Are you finished fucking with the rat?” They asked, voice as fittingly deadpan as expected yet not exactly holding an air of malice or disgust. Pecan chuckled a bit and nodded, wiping away another tear.

“Yeeeah… yeah, I had my fun~ Do I gotta step on the grate again too before entering?”

“...The gate is open, isn’t it? Come on in.” They responded matter of factly before turning tail and walking back in.

“They look tired.” Jack noted, Pecan taking his paw in hers and the two entering the guild entrance.

“Narcoleptic insomniac I heard, poor girl don’t know the meaning of energy.” Pecan answered, climbing down the ladder into the guild. The small entrance immediately opened up into a sizable and surprisingly lively space with large billboards on the wall to either side of the ladders.

“Oh wow, there’s a lotta Pokemon in here!” Jack looked around in awe at everyone conversing about each other, several looking at the bulletins and others simply lounging about. “Are these all members of the guild?”

“In one way or another some of them are but most aren’t. From what I’ve seen around town, Wigglytuff’s Guild is not just the place to go for apprenticeship but for already established teams, this is the only place in Treasure Town that teams can pick up jobs. I’m sure you’ll hear more on it later so don’t worry too much about that for now. Right now, we gotta find… Chatot!” Pointing out the little musical bird amongst the small crowds of Pokemon, she waved to him and ran over his way. “Chatot, Chatot~!”

“Squawk? Oh! I remember you, Pecan, is it? I’d remember those lively lime green eyes anywhere, welcome back~!”

“Aww~ You remembered me by my eyes? Not the whole…” She did a playful twirl to show off her golden-brown fur to the bird, “...being shiny and whatnot~?”

“Well yes, shininess in a Pokemon is an extremely rare birth trait and the only shiny to bless this town in years. But never have I seen an Emolga with lime eyes, it’s even more unique to this old bird, oh ho ho!” Chatot commented with a playful yet hearty laugh. “Ahh, but I’m getting sidetracked. I’m guessing you’ve found a partner to form a team with?”

“That I did!” The Emolga wrapped her arm around her partner, pulling him close so they were cheek to cheek. “This is my new friend Jack, I met him down at the beach just this evening but I feel like he’s really the one, y’know? Not like… dating or anything–not, not that kind of ‘the one’. I mean like he really feels like someone that I can relate to, someone that gets me and doesn’t just wanna get me.”

“On the beach?” Chatot’s eyes suddenly lit up with newfound interest. “You wouldn’t, perhaps happen to have met him, say… unconscious on the beach, would you?” Pecan was a bit caught off guard by the rather specific yet accurate question.

“Uhhh yeah actually. Is this like… something that happens normally?”

“No no, err, yes sort of, I suppose you could say. And you two wouldn’t happen to have… been in a dungeon prior to this, have you?”

“We did, yeah. Beach Cave, I took Jack there so he could get a little bit of training since he was really out of it when he woke up. Kinda like recharging the batteries and getting him back up to snuff.” Chatot placed a wing on his chin as if thinking about something. The two rodents looked curiously at him, wondering what could’ve been on his mind. “Uhhh… these are oddly specific questions, Chatot. We didn’t do anything wrong, did we?”

“Huh? Ah! No, ma’am, not at all! Oh ho ho! Please forgive my strange and intrusive questions. It’s a little something I’ve been doing recently with new registers as a sort of… initial test to see if they’re truly serious about joining a guild. It’s rigorous and tough work, many do apply but many quit long before they even pass their fledgling days. You have to be committed if you want to make it as a team.”

“I’ve thought this over day after day for the past month now and every time I ask myself the same question, I only have one answer.” Pecan looked Chatot in the eye with firm determination. “I want to use my experience as a traveler to extend my reach to Pokemon in need as a Rescue Team.”

“A Rescue Team, eh? You’ve even decided what type of team you want to be, splendid! That will expedite the process considerably. Ah! But have you talked it over with your partner?” Pecan stopped and looked over at Jack who’d merely been listening to the two, following along but not exactly having much to add to the conversation. Truth be told, he was kinda just along for this part of the ride, leaving it all to Pecan who clearly had all the know-how for the situation.

“Uhh… I… haven’t–”

“I don’t know too much on this but I’m cool with what you wanna do, Pecan. I do like the idea of helping others in need though. Does good for making contacts~” The Emolga picked up on Jack’s intentions and emphasis on the word. She hadn’t even thought of it that way which was a real surprise to her–as a Rescue Team, she would be in contact with a lot of Pokemon in need. Very thankful Pokemon in need in an era of time where sex has been on a large boom. It needn’t be said the many clichés of the damsel in distress rewarding their big, brave savior trope and what that would mean for her and Jack.

“Then it’s settled! If you two would please follow me, I will lead you to the Guildmaster’s quarters for registration.” Pecan was giddy with excitement, Jack feeling happy just to see his partner like this and following the bird down the next ladder to the bottom floor. To their immediate left they could see a door with a sign over it with “GUILDMASTER ROOM” written in white paint on the wooden post with a star, smiley face, and a heart doodled on crudely. “This room here is the Guildmaster’s room and base of operations, ahem… obviously so, but I figured I should state the obvious anyway… Guildmaster! I’m coming in!” Chatot gave the door a few gentle knocks before opening up, motioning the electric-types to follow. “We have new recruits wishing to join our guild~!”

Entering the room, the door shut behind Pecan and Jack as the two stood in the middle of the small bedroom. To the left was a rather large hay bed, plenty bigger than would need be for a single Wigglytuff. Strewn about the bed space were a few toys, a couple of orbs, a seed, and a rather deliciously large looking apple. Right of them were various chests and containers, some that appeared to be full of coin, others with various goods that looked like clothing or accessories, perhaps a treasure hoard or something, the two guessed. But what was most important was right in front of them, standing on a lush red mat and facing away from them.

“Guildmaster..?” Chatot asked, slowly approaching the pink ball of fur and fluff. “You, uhh… are learning well… I see.”

“Shhhhh!” They hissed at Chatot who backed away with a little squawk. “You’re ruining the momeeent!” Their whispers were sharp and a bit loud, just loud enough for Jack and Pecan to hear.

“Did we… come in at a bad time?” Pecan asked, feeling a bit awkward and uncertain of what was going on. Swiftly, the Pokemon spun around to face them, big, bubbly green eyes staring at them in an attempt at anger with a pout.

“No! It’s all ruined now because of Chatty!” Huffing and puffing up, Pecan and Jack couldn’t help but smile at the oh so adorable and pouty balloon Pokemon.

“G-Guildmaster! I told you not to call me that in front of others..!” Chatot waved a wing in distress, looking back at the other two with a blush.

“Well you ruined my moment to look cool to the new guys! How am I supposed to be like daddy if you keep interrupting my dramatic turn!” They sighed and turned their attention back to the rodents now with a big smile. “Hiiii~! Don’t mind him, he’s just being a big spoil sport, hehe~ Anywaysies, I’m Guildmaster Jigglypuff! My dads are a couple years away from retiring so they’ve been training me to be the new Guildmaster and it’s been lots and lotsa fun meeting bunches of cutie Pokemon like you two~!”

“Awwww, you are so adorable~!” Pecan squealed, her tail wagging and scooping up the Jigglypuff for a hug.

“Eeee~! Huggies!” The juvenile puffball squished herself into Pecan’s hugs, the two nuzzling cheeks playfully. “I like her, daddy! I want her to join the guild! Can she join the guild pleeeease~?”

“Err… that’s kind of your job, Guildmaster…” Chatot chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of his head.

“Oh yeah! And stop calling me that! You’re so formal all the time, daddy! I get it, I’ll be 18 in a couple months but you don’t gotta keep acting so professional all the time! You’ve been doing this for like 30-something years or something, loosen up some~!”

“Urk!... Yes Guildma–y-yes… sweetie…” Chatot clenched his beak, eyes shut from the mild scolding from his daughter. “But… but it’s not a good look to act so casually in front of the apprentices..! What if that sets a bad standard that we’re too lax?”

“But we aaare! Just because we work hard doesn’t mean we can’t have fun too, silly~!” She giggled, clinging to Pecan who held the smaller Pokemon in her arms idly. “Anyway, you’re distracting me! I gotta register these two! Can you put me down?”

“Oh right, sorry.” Pecan set the Jigglypuff down and she stepped back onto the mat.

“Awesome~ Before I get you two registered, you need a name! A team name~ And what kinda team you wanna be! If you aren’t sure whatcha want yet, I can go down the list of teams and you can pick the one that sounds best for you~!”

“We already have our team type set, right Jack?” Pecan turned to the Pikachu who nodded with crossed arms.

“Yep, you said Rescue Team, right?”

“Rescue Team! Oooo, I like Rescue Teams! Kind and noble workers that help those in need! Your team specializes in rescues, first aid, and missing Pokemon searches as your most favorable job types! While these aren’t the only jobs you’ll be able to do, they’ll be the ones most optimal to your field of work and profession~ And this is what you wanna be for sure?”

“Mhmm, we’ll be a Rescue Team~” Pecan confirmed with a nod of her own.

“Great~! Then all we need noooow iiiiis… your team name~!”

“Shiii–oooot!” Pecan corrected herself with a groan. “I knew I was forgetting something! Jack, I forgot to go over team names with you! We’re completely blank on suggestions!”

“That’s okaaaay~! You can take some time to talk it over together and just let me know when you’re ready! Ooo! If I may suggest, you should totally name yourself something inspirational, liiiike uuhhh… maybe an end goal you wanna achieve as a team or some sorta reference like something electrical ‘cus you’re both electric-types! I like the first idea more though, you can come up with some really cool names that really tell people what you’re all about that way~ Oop! I’m rambling, I’m probably making it hard for you to think, sorryyyy! Daddy, let’s get their stuff ready while they’re thinking of names!”

“Y-yes, Guildmaster–I-I mean umm… s-sugar lump..!” Chatot turned towards the piles of chests before practically throwing himself into one of the chests and rummaging around with Jigglypuff joining him moments after. The two picked out a little collection of goods and bundled them up while the electric-types mulled over team name ideas a moment longer.

“Alright! We’ve come up with something!” Pecan called out, the bird and Guildmaster practically zipping back into place and holding something so totally inconspicuously behind their backs.

“Awwweeesome cool great mega rad lovely! Eh heh heh!... Heh…” Jigglypuff smiled big and looked back and forth a bit. “Eh… so! What’s that team name then~?”

“Jack and I thought it over, ran a few ideas around but we both decided ooooon Team Heartthrob~! Because we don’t just want to help those in need, we want to spread the love and cheer of good hearts and goodwill~!”

“Oooo wowie zowie, I love looooove that name~! And what a noble cause! Okie-dokie then! From here on, you two will be the lead members of the newly formed Team Heartthrob!” Jigglypuff cheered a little before she began to inhale deeply, her entire body slowly expanding with the excessive intake of oxygen.

“Uh oh… Cover your ears! SQUAWK!! COVER YOUR EARS!”

“Huh!? Why?? What’s she doing? Chatot!?”

“YooooooOOOOOOM…”

“JUST DO IT NOW!” Chatot ducked for cover while Pecan and Jack did as instructed, covering their ears and bracing themselves for whatever was coming.

“GUILDMASTER! Please reconsider–!!”

TAAAAAAHHH~!!” An explosive burst of energy practically blew all three of them away with piercing sonic soundwaves, the sheer power of Jigglypuff’s cry leaving cracks in the walls of the room and the door flying off its hinges, Chatot splattered against the treasure trove clinging for dear life with Pecan and Jack thrown against the wall in craters that near tore straight through. As quickly as the eruption of sound began it abruptly ended, the rodents falling to the ground from their cave-ins on the wall. Jigglypuff blinked a few times, looking at the critical damage she’d caused to the room before glancing over at Chatot who lay on the ground in defeat. “...Was that too much again, daddy?”

“...N..No, princess…” Chatot’s voice cracked repeatedly, a wing raising weakly with an improvised thumbs up. “You were… good job…

“Yay~! Then let’s get you two set up! C’mon, I got gifts for you!” Hesitantly, the rodent pair returned to their position in front of the Jigglypuff with newfound respect and fear of just what this prodigy of power could really do. She smiled and dragged the chest from behind her, presenting it and giving the top a few pats. “Open it up! Everything inside is all yours as part of your Rescue Team Starter Package~” Pecan and Jack looked at each other for a moment before the Pikachu went ahead and opened the chest to take the first look inside.

“Whoa… check this out!” Jack reached inside, a strap being thrown over his shoulder before standing up with a white travel bag wrapped around him. On the flap of the bag was a green plus, likely an indicator of their future profession as partial medical aid. On the front of the bag itself was what looked like a sort of egg shaped indent as if something could be fit inside of it. “This bag is kinda cool~ But what’s with this odd socket in the front? Kinda looks like I could put something there–it’s egg shaped too. Is this bag some sorta incubator?”

“Noooo, it doesn’t warm up eggies. But you’ll see what it’s for reeeeally soon~ That’s your Rescue Pouch! It’s an Explorer’s Bag branded specifically for Rescue Teams, it’s essentially one of the immediate ways for travelers to pinpoint your team type! Like Mystery Dungeons, these bags are quite mysterious in their properties and functionality. You’d be surprised how much you can fit in it! It’s less of a traditional bag and more like a… uhhh… daddy, what did you call it again? Socket… depender or something?”

“Ahem… pocket dimension, Guildmaster.” Chatot corrected.

“Pocket dimension, right! Basically you can fill it up with all sortsa stuff until you reach its capacity then it won’t accept anything else. And when you wanna grab something, you just think of or say what it is and reach in the bag~! It’s like maaagiiic~” Jigglypuff waved her arms around playfully while making mystifying noises. “Oooo wheee ooooo~”

“That sounds… so cooool~” Jack’s eyes sparkled with intrigue. Pokemon were such interesting creatures full of mystery and charm! He had to wonder if things like this existed in the human world where he came from. It just sounded so unreal to him and yet here it was in his possession… Granted he’s not exactly in a human body. Speaking to humans. And… humaning or whatever humans do. Never mind.

“Look inside again! There’s more stuff in the chest~” Jigglypuff suggested. The Emolga stepped forward next, reaching in for more of the goodies meant for them.

“Let’s see, there iiiis… ooo, what’s this?” She came up with a white bow in her paws. She looked it over, examining its front and back trying to see if there was anything significant about it. “It’s… just a bow? No kinda… abilities or skills about it? Just a fashion statement?”

“Oh it’s more than just a bow. Apparently. That’s what daddy Wiggly says at least. I dunno what’s so special about it though, we’ve got lots of ‘em in the horde over there but every time daddy gave them to a Pokemon, it wouldn’t do anything and he’d just take it and put it back and give them something else instead. ‘Peppy sweetie, these bows are super special and very valuable but they have a very specific condition to have any value. If the bow doesn’t react then we take it back.’ That’s what he would say a lot to me. I’ve always wanted to see those bows do something but they never do! Daddy makes it sound so cool and important and he got to see it happen with the Saviors of Time and Darkness but he said a bow has never reacted since then!”

“So they really were trained here then!? The Saviors? THE Saviors, THOSE Saviors??” Pecan repeated, practically shoving Jack into the chest as she leaned up against Jigglypuff.

“Yeppers! My daddies used to tell me about all the adventures they got into with the guild as bedtime stories when I was a little Igglybuff too young to go on my own adventures~ Daddy Wiggly said that the Treecko the bow responded to looked really dapper and cute wearing it, hehe! Although, he never told me what makes the bow react; he said when Cyndaquil picked it up first, nothing happened. But then he gave it to Treecko…” Jigglypuff and Pecan then looked over at Jack who was bent over halfway inside the chest from being thrown aside by the Emolga, wriggling and kicking at the air in futile attempts to get free until he slumped in defeat.

“...May as well give it a try, right? He hasn’t touched it yet.” Jigglypuff nodded to Pecan’s voiced thoughts, watching the shiny female approach her partner and tug him out of the chest. “Alright, c’mere big guy! I got somethin’ for ya! Take this bow and tell us if you feel anything.” She placed the cloth in the Pikachu’s paws and he held it gently by its edges, looking at it with a raised brow.

“Feel anything? It’s just a bow, am I supposed to feel something? Don’t I just put it on?” He stared at it for a moment, as if trying to concentrate on whatever feeling he should be getting out of this. When nothing happened after long enough, they were about ready to write it off as yet another dud before Jack had decided to attach it to himself, placed right above his chest, giving it a few twists to fit it on himself straight. “It fits me nice. I feel a little dorky wearing it but I think I kinda like it–” Jack stopped suddenly. His eyes shot open and he suddenly felt something, a strange and peculiar feeling and yet… almost familiar.

“Jack?” Something inside of him began to well up, a feeling–an energy of sorts. He became hyperaware of his breathing but instead of panicking or breathing improperly, he was completely steady, deep inhales, slow exhales. His eyes then closed and he felt as if the wind was trying to pick him up by the feet.

“Whoa…” Jigglypuff, Chatot, and Pecan all watched in awe as Pikachu’s fur began to flow and rustle. It was as if he were standing in an upward draft, arms reaching outward and letting the feeling carry him away. A radiant surge of energy visibly consumed his body in a rhythmic flow that followed the upward blow of his fur and his eyes reopened, both glowing a deep, royal purple. The bow itself was caught in this unseen wind as it too began to glow and shimmer before its blank canvas slowly took on a purple hue matching his glowing eyes and radiant flow.

“J-Jigglypuff, what’s happening to him!?” Pecan shouted through the sounds of roaring wind that consumed the entire room.

“It’s… reacting… It’s reacting–IT’S REACTING! The bow is responding to his Aura!” Jigglypuff cried happily, her large, bubbly eyes shimmering and sparkling.

“My word…” Chatot was just as in awe at the display before him. He had long since forgotten just how much of a spectacle those bows were when they resonated with the right Pokemon, having only seen it once before with the Saviors. As suddenly as realization hit, a strong, uneasy feeling overcame the bird. It couldn’t be…

As the bow took on its rich purple hue, the intense phenomenon came to an end and the invisible, roaring wind and aura that overtook the Pikachu dissipated into nothingness. His eyes had returned to their regular blue as he collapsed to his knees, panting, looking as exhausted as if he’d just run a mile straight. “Haah… whoa… what… what just happened..?” He looked up at the three Pokemon standing over him, all with incredulous looks.

“Are you OK..?” Pecan started, helping her partner up and letting him lean against her.

“That was… soooo AWESOME~!” Jigglypuff squealed, jumping with excitement. “I can’t believe it, they really do work! Daddy, did you see that!?”

“I… I did…” Chatot spoke as if he weren’t quite all there. His voice was a bit distant, detached from the conversation even. It could just be a coincidence…

“I guess this bow is something special to do all that, huh?” Pecan chuckled a bit, patting the Pikachu’s back.

“Now I know why my dads call it an Aura Bow. It resonated with your inner Aura and brought it out in color!”

“Aura..?” Jack repeated.

“It’s a little complicated to explain… I don’t really get it myself but I think it’s kinda like our life energy or something inside of us? A Pokemon that’s really in touch with Aura would be a lot better at explaining it than me.” Jigglypuff tried her best, scratching the side of her head. “But whatever it is, yours is a super cute purple! And it looks soooo good against your yellow fur! Ooohh it’s too bad it isn’t blue though, that would look really good too and it would match your eyes!”

“Hmm…” Jack looked down at the bow, giving it a gentle stroke with a paw. Despite the incredible, strange power it seemed to hold, its fabric and material felt exactly the same as it did prior as a mere white bow. “I kinda like it, a really rich purple, so vibrant.”

“Yeah yeah! And there’s still a little bit more left to get! Look in the chest again~!” Pecan helped sit Jack down, letting him rest in his drained state while she went and rummaged in the chest again as instructed.

“Ooh, what’s this?” She came out with a brown, rolled up paper tied by a small yellow rope. “A scroll or something?” She untied the rope, letting it fall to the floor and unrolling the sheet of paper. The inside had what looked like drawings of clouds over the entire page save for a small artistic inscription of what appeared to be Treasure Town, Wigglytuff’s Guild, and the surrounding areas. “Oh! This is a map! But… it’s only got Treasure Town on it, everything else is just a bunch of clouds?”

“That’s a Wonder Map! I don’t think it needs to be said at this point, the mysterious properties blah blah blaaaah~ As you explore the continent, the map will automatically track, record, and reveal new locations! All you have to do is open the map while in uncharted territory and it’ll record the surrounding area and remove those pesky clouds~! And lastly iiiiiis…” This time it was Jigglypuff who jumped into the chest, ruffling about inside of it before two egg shaped badges were thrown out towards the Emolga. “There they are!” She jumped out of the chest again and finally closed it, sitting on top of it. “Those are your Team Badges. These are probably the most important items to you in a team. They have many purposes! They serve as your team’s symbol and your personal ID! Treat these like they are a part of your person and do NOT lose them!... Though if you do, just come see me and I can supply you with a new one~”

Pecan examined the badges in her paws. Like the indent in their bag, the badge was the same egg shape. Golden wings protruded from the sides while the badge itself was green in color with a pink button adorned the center of the badge. “Huh… this is interesting–really neat.”

“The green color of your badge is another symbol of your team as a Rescue Team. It matches the green cross on your Rescue Pouch~” Jigglypuff explained, taking one of the two badges from Pecan and holding it up in front of her. She looked over at the Pikachu and could see he was listening and watching from afar. “As I said, this badge is very important. It functions as an ID that lets you access many places and privileges. But that’s not all it does. This button…” She pointed to the pink button on the badge’s center, “...can teleport you and others out of Mystery Dungeons with a simple press and a bit of thought power. When you press the button, you have to make a wish to return to base and it’ll answer your plea. The wish part is to prevent any accidental presses sending Pokemon back to base prematurely or accidentally. You can also make a wish to send someone else back instead or bring someone with you by having them hold onto you when you teleport so it’s multifunctional~”

“This is a lot to take in… but I think I’m gettin’ the hang of it.” Pecan looked at the badge she was holding, rubbing the button gently and being careful not to press it.” So when I push the button and wish to return home, it’ll teleport me and anyone I’m touchin’ back here then?”

“Yep! You’ll be brought right here to the guild~! Any other questions? I’m here to answer anything you gotta know~”

“Umm… why is the button pink? Does that mean anything?”

“Oh! Yeah yeah, while the badge color represents your team type, the color of the button represents your team’s rank. By completing jobs and missions, your team can rank up and that’ll show that you’re more seasoned professionals at your job~! It’ll also open up more privileges and opportunities for you; I’ll let you in on a little secret: there’s lots of vendors and shop owners out there that might offer some special discounts and opportunities to the big ranks and good customers~ But you didn’t hear that from me!” Jigglypuff floated over to Chatot and nuzzled against him softly. “Daddyyyy, did I cover everything? Did I do good?”

“Well, uhhh…” Chatot turned his attention back to the doorway… and the door laying in the middle of the common room outside. He’d have to get that door reinstalled. And the hinges fixed.” …Yeah! You did a wonderful job as always, sweetie..! Shall I show them to their room now?”

“Yep! Uhhh… wait, all the rooms are taken though…” Jigglypuff looked down sadly for a moment before her eyes lit up again. “Wait! No they aren’t! There’s one vacant room~!” Chatot’s eyes widened. Surely she didn’t mean…

“G-Guildmaster! Your father said that room was strictly forbidden to allow apprentices to live in anymore, it’s too important and valuable to our guild’s history to risk being trashed!”

“Awwwww… Well daddy isn’t here right now and the cute Pikachu reacted with the bow like the Savior did! He’s special, I can just feel it!” Jigglypuff protested. “That and rooms can only fit up to three Pokemon at a time and there’s no rooms with two vacant beds. I don’t wanna split them up…”

“That’s what I was afraid of…” Chatot groaned quietly to himself. “A-ahem! I suppose… these conditions do appear to be a bit… special. Maybe it wouldn’t be such a problem to let them sleep where the Saviors once did.”

“Yay~! Thank you, thank you, thank you daddyyy~!” Jigglypuff cheered, giving her father a kiss on the cheek. He smiled and blushed a little, all too happy to do good for his daughter.

“Wigglytuff is surely to have a few things to say to me when he gets back home from overseas…” Chatot gulped. “Errm, come now, you two! Please allow me to give you a quick tour of the guild!

“Oh man Jack, this is really happening, we’re really gonna be working here!” Pecan squealed to her partner, her tail wagging and twitching about. Jack had since regained himself and was up and following Chatot with his partner.

“Yeah, it’s… actually kinda surreal still that all this is happening. But it feels nice, I kinda can’t wait to see where this’ll all take us.” As the two chatted amongst themselves behind Chatot, he began to feel that unsettling pit in his stomach again. It could all just be coincidences but what were the chances of that? It’s not like the bows had reacted to anyone else before then these two come along and it’s almost like deja vu. The excited, talkative one and the more quiet one that doesn’t seem to be quite all there. And just like Treecko, the quiet one gets the bow… Now here he was, showing them around the guild like a tour guide and would soon be introducing that room to a new pair again. He shook his head and pushed those uneasy feelings away.

The world has been safe for 20 years. Good so far. Will the jigglypuff guildmaster get in on any of the naughty actions?

Your canon saviors were Treecko and Cyndaquil huh?

I thought of Riolu and Shinx at one point, not necessarily using both but at least one of them but then thought against it because of how common the two picks are in Explorers based PMD fan content (for good reason though, they're both REALLY good Pokemon). Piplup came to mind as well as I did consider using at least one gen 4 Pokemon for the savior's team then decided not to force it. Treecko was a guaranteed choice for something I have in mind personally for the story.
