Lum is a battle Pokemon, despite all his exploits in most the stories. He comes from a long line of Lucarios that are trained to be the epitome of fighting/steel power. Now and then he has to fulfill that role. In this case the league called on all Tier One trainers in the region to be audited to keep their title. In a twist, they scheduled it to be a 2 v 2 match. Brandon only has Lum, and of course they have to keep their Tier One status, so Lum's mother, Lucita, came out of retirement to battle with him. They're pretty good at battling together.
