A guy named Alan that claimed to be an honest to god magician hailing from an alternate dimension. At first mistaking him for a hobo, Dylan was soon convinced that what he said was true and took him in, giving him shelter, food and employing him as his secretary. Then, before he realized it, Alan became his confident, friend... and not too long after, his special one.
He's had many crushes before, from both sides of the river as he'd say it, but none of them made him feel as special as Alan did. Viewing back on their time together as the happiest period of his life, Alan even taught him magic, seeing how Dylan had the potential for it. But one night, they were performing a good night ritual, which attracted the unwanted attention of Zane, still lurking around, looking to find as many Molbians as possible ot absorb their magic. He appeared in the middle of the ritual, making Dylan think he had messed up something and, befoore everything went black, the last image he saw was of his lover in tears, holding his hands as Zane's bonechilling laughter echoed around...
When he woke up the day after, he found his house in ashes and Alan was nowhere to be seen. In tears, he began a downward spiral of depression and self-loathe for the death of the one man who made him feel special, even if he was not at fault at all. After taking in every magical trinket he found and absorbing all of the magical knowledge he could from Alan's books, he left town, swearing revenge on Zane and promising on his beloved's ashes that he wouldn't die until he had killed the evil sorcerer.
