The students of Hexside School Of Witchcraft And Demonics seem to be drawn from a finer cut. Yes, Luz included, the Clawthornes are a prestigious family. You have Blights and Parks and many other fine families of the Boiling Isles. Here are more Hexside students of pampered pedigree... mostly.
Starting on the left, Yaphney Dogsbody, the jinmenken. A human-faced dog. She's a shy, softly spoken, gentle smol bean who wants to help others. Thats why she's in the Healer track. She wants so much to heal the hurts of a world with boiling rain and wild beasts.
Speaking of wild beasts, a guy who wants to tame the wildness and help with the problems of chaos. Reginald Undercroft, a witch of fine pedigree. He's mature and dedicated, not above a bit of comedy, and he adores his sweet smol bean. As white knight and upright as he seems, he's been in trouble before. People used to make jokes about his Beastkeeping track being to deal with his girlfriend. He caved in enough noses to make that stop.
Beside him, his younger brother Rodney Undercroft, a little prankster and comedian, as his ahoge hair shows. He's in potions, partly because of his girlfriend, and partly because he's just really good at it. Being talented is as good a reason as any. He's not a bad kid but he is as pranky as, say, Ed and Em Blight. Though he often amusedly notes he's been in trouble less often than his goody-goody older brother. He admits, however, how he loves that, as his bother often is a shield against trouble, and he gets in trouble out of love, which is admirable.
As for that girlfriend, that would be the hybrid goblin Meriwether Majordomo. Hybrid with what? Different goblin. The Majordomo family are a long and prestigious line of hobgoblin servants, professional butlers, valets, maids, and so on, as the name implies. Her father is the actual Majordomo for the Undercroft family. Her mother is a sylvan goblin, a woods-living slightly mischievous potion-brewing kind of goblin. The family is "bound in service" to the Undercroft household, though that means the use of that oath spell Amity used in Covention, which protects both sides from abuse. The sylvan goblin part is why she has a dog nose and long tail. She is actually unbound, she had been an apprentice maid and potion secondary until she fell for Rodney. Then to remove power dynamic imbalance as much as possible the parallel oath spell was undone. She still helps out around the manor, just on her own volition. Like her mother, she's a natural whiz with potions, and like dad, she's got time management and focus skills to do something with it.
To note, they're not... super active rebel types. Even them being in relationships is super normal, witches and demons aren't prohibited from romantic interaction. But they are more on the side of the likes of Luz and were not coven-locked by the expedient of putting it off over and over. They ARE mono-track, but by choice. During the reign of the Collector, they were part of the Hexside holdout society and used their skills to keep others safe and healthy.
Some very, very lovely art of characters I've had in mind for a while.
