Among the ranks of the Holy Mothers there are many colorful characters, after all, they are all but worshipped as divine by much of the population and as a result tend to cultivate colorful personalities and public personas in order to stand out, attract attention from favorable studs, patrons, and prospective parents.

One of these Mothers is one that leans more toward the infamous.

Igazi Obara name was known from a young age when her father, Nezar Obara was revealed to be the notorious Bridge Killer, a serial killer with half a dozen murders tied to him. His victims would be stabbed repeatedly and then their bodies would be dumped under bridges, hence the name. Reportedly, Igazi had been the apple of her father's eye. Upon his capture, Nezar Obara invoked the right of Final Fight.

Even a prosperous city state like Sahg Qalan does not consider life imprisonment to be an effective use of resources. Therefore, serious offenders are typically conscripted into work projects or banished if their crimes are severe yet non-violent.

The Final Fight is another option where condemned criminals can volunteer for a position in the armed forces where they accompany troops into the wastelands to be sent on suicide missions. Those condemned in this manner are usually murderers, rapists, or those who strike a Holy Mother out of anger. The fates they meet are almost always grisly ones. In spite of this, the Final Fight is considered an honor, albiet a dubious one.

This would add to the dark reputation to the Bridge Killer's young daughter. Thhe young Igazi eventually took the fertility test as all females do and was discovered to be fertile. There was some whispering among the Mothers and the other ruling classes as to whether it was worth the risk for someone with such a violent heritage to reproduce. Igazi worshiped her father and while never outright defending him, Igazi never condemned Nezar either.

Her stern, severe, appearance did not serve win over hearts and minds either.

Ultimately, the needs of reproduction were too important to sacrifice over the possibility of hereditary violence. Igazi's belly was soon large and bulbous with future generations. The dark reputation that surrounded her childhood never really faded though. Her sharp tongue made conversations with her a risky endeavor and maternal instincts never seemed to manifest in her cold, pale eyes.

After the first pregnancy, Mother's are allowed to choose their own studs. Igazi raised a few eyebrows when her choice of Studs favored Gladiators or Soldiers or even the occasional street fighter. Almost always, they were fighters with high kill counts. Ovulating Holy Mothers often test potential Studs with tests or competitions to prove their worth at siring children. To little surprise, Igazi would make her Studs fight. While the Sorority forbade Duels to Death, her Stud Fights were always last man standing wins.

There were rumors that Igazi wished to be impregnated by those who had invoked the right of Final Fight. If there was any truth to these rumors, it has yet to material. Even if true, fertile males who invoke Final Fight immediately relinquish their right to studhood. Their seed is considered tainted by their dark deeds. Call it superstitious if you wish but the people of Orbis cannot afford to take chances.

When her Fourth Impregnation was about to begin, The Sorority pressured Igazi to allow studs with intellectual or artistic prowess access to her bed. Igazi returned their gestures with her usual cold aloofness and acerbic with but she eventually capitulated. For intellectuals, Igazi leaned toward scientists who made their marks in the Dissection Labs. The place the various mutants that still swarm the wastelands of the planet are dissected and studied. When the arts were up, Igazi has had at least two Studs. One was Biko Tharsval, an artist known for his violent depictions of battle in his paintings. The other was Slorin Vern a composer who was rumored to mix his blood into the ink he wrote his bombastic music with.

The actual details of what goes on the Holy Mother's bedrooms (or gardens. Or offices, or the balcony) are kept secret for privacy. That does not stop plethora of books, plays, and table talks made available to the masses full of fictional (so they claim) account of the Holy Mothers getting pregnant. But where there's people, there is gossip and details of Igazi's tastes inevitably leak out.

It is now known that Igazi enjoys pain in her Impregnation sessions. Sessions that involve leather bindings, whips, and candle wax. On Earth, this sexual fetish is known as BDSM or Bondage and Discipline, Submission and Masochism. What role Igazi plays, dominant or submissive is a matter of intense, if private debate. Further proof of this come through the fact that Igazi refuses pain medicine during labor or only accepts the bare minimum. While many Holy Mother's find themselves enjoying giving birth, Igazi seems to revel in the messier aspects of bringing new life into Sahg Qalan's nurseries.

It would seem that violence is indeed a part of Igazi Obara's soul, although it has yet to extend to torture or homicide.

So Far

When Holy Mother's reach a certain rank, be it through brood size, number of pregnancies or simple fame, they are given a title. Thanks to Igazi's past and infamous tastes, Igazi Obara was bestowed the moniker: The Red Mother.

Some souls, whether they be guards on watch or servants at the laundry, have whispered they have a far more appropriate moniker...
