"After the conflict with the Restoration HQ and the Diamond Cutters, Team Emerald decided to get Alter-Egos to go after the "bad guys" (like Eggman), despite their wanted status.

(They were held responsible for crimes they did not commit and were treated accordingly, forced to escape from the City.
Their leader Kagen was seriously wounded by Whisper the Wolf while trying to escape, as can be seen from his new, mechanical eye.)

Their leader Kagen the Wolf, with his "Dream Drop" ability, took on the identity of the Emerald Rider "Malachite" and, in a way, let the dreams of justice come true."
