She doesn't have bad dreams because she's just a piece of plastic.
She doesn't have dreams at all. So the conventional wisdom said. Android psychology was just too different.
But Amanda isn't just any android, and nightmares come as something of a shock the first time they happen.
There has been much speculation around android psychology. Do they feel? Can they feel? Do they have dreams? As Megan has discovered, a being meant to mimic organic life with such precision as Amanda does, and to learn from her experiences, isn't limited to learning the physical elements of life. She learned the mental and emotional ones as well. Amanda most certainly does dream. More than that, she has hopes, fears, doubts and aspirations that sometimes feel needlessly cramped living aboard their small ship. Fortunately, she has Megan to help her throughout it all and to comfort and soothe her when the need arises.
Further world-building prattle: Though entirely synthetic, Amanda's brain and the brains of all of her type of android is, in many ways, indistinguishable from organic brains. It has structures analogous to all the same ones found in organic brains, which facilitates her ability to learn, grown and adapt. As such, while things like emotions and dreams aren't directly programmed into her, they seem to arise naturally from her brain structure the same way they do in organic beings. This has a consequence of somewhat diminishing raw computing power. She cannot simply be programmed with new information but must learn by study and application, the same way her organic counterparts must do. Further, while she excels in math and science, she has aptitudes and deficiencies and isn't a walking encyclopedia regurgitating streams of data at the press of a button. She is something of an experimental model, meant for exploration but more importantly, to push the boundaries of android cognitive and emotional development.
All of this led to the company that paid for her construction to deem her a failure, and Megan's theft of her the night before she was scheduled to be destroyed.
A lovely scene, and a lovely story to go with it. I definitely appreciate you taking the time to better explain Amanda's inner workings, and I'd love to see more of her in the future!!

Aw, thank you. The art turned out amazing, I agree. Azzie does amazing work and she really made my idea shine. I'm so glad you liked the little story and world/character-building ramble, too. I've been sort of leaving a lot of the more technical stuff vague, because she is still something of a work in progress and science isn't my forte. But Amanda's been kicking me in the brain lately, wanting me to do more with her, so I certainly plan to!

Androids don't always dream of electric sheep. They sometimes have nightmares of being chased down dark alley by Blade Runners seeking to retire them at gunpoint.
Fortunately, Amanda has mamabun Megan to snuggle with and make the bad dreams go away. Such a lovely and caring bun, giving her android squirrel hun all the snuggly comfort.

I'm far more familiar with the book than the film, but honestly, I think you're better off avoiding both bounty hunters and androids in that version. None of them are especially nice! J.R. Isidore is probably the only person I'd want to spend any time with. Lucky for Amanda, she generally doesn't have to worry about such things in the depths of space.
And Megan's just happy she can be there to help when the poor girl needs some comforting. She's very fond of her sweet little squirrel.
